What's Left Of Us became a highly anticipated read for me because this author brings her A game when it comes to angst and love stories. She never holds back and there's this pure rawness within her characters that leaves you feeling stripped. This story was no different and for a marriage of convenience storyline, she more than delivered the emotional turmoil.

I think that you need to go into this story blindly so my review is going to be very vague. You need to experience these characters in all their messy glory because they're going to make you mad, frustrated, and have you wondering if love is really enough.

    Crazy-Realistic-Hammerheadbird-size-restricted

Lincoln and Georgia Danforth have been through hell and back as a couple and from the very beginning, you see the love but you also witness the hate and anger. How did they get to that point? How could a seemingly in love couple go from wanting to be each other's everything to not wanting to be in the same room with each other?

    tumblr-nccz8u9sa-V1tkwroso1-500

Told from dual povs with past and present, What's Left Of Us takes on an emotional gray path that was filled with heartbreak, lies, temptation, and the longing for justice from opposite sides. These characters will put you through the wringer and you'll be left wondering What's Left Of You! This is going down as one of my favorite reads of the year so far so If you're looking for a sexy darkish romance, this one's for you.

Book Review: The Housemaid by Freida McFadden

    January 13, 2025

Every day I clean the Winchesters’ beautiful house top to bottom. I collect their daughter from school. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor.

I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter. And how her husband Andrew seems more broken every day. But as I look into Andrew’s handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it’s hard not to imagine what it would be like to live Nina’s life. The walk-in closet, the fancy car, the perfect husband.

I only try on one of Nina’s pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it’s like. But she soon finds out… and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late.

But I reassure myself: the Winchesters don’t know who I really am.

    They don’t know what I’m capable of…

An unbelievably twisty read that will have you glued to the pages late into the night. Anyone who loves The Woman in the Window, The Wife Between Us and The Girl on the Train won’t be able to put this down!

Well… I wanted a thriller that was going to keep me hooked and ya girl showed up!. Now listen, I was expecting the story to go another way and just when I thought that I had everything figured out, I closed the book just to make sure that I was still reading the same story and that the title was the same because….

After being away for ten years, Millie is looking for a fresh start and that includes getting a job. Thankfully with a stroke of luck, she becomes the new housemaid for a rich family. As time begins to go by,Millie quickly learns that there's a lot more to this family and it's not all good. They say be careful what you wish for because everything is not always what it seems and she's about to find out just how much.

I've seen this book climb the charts and became a popular must read for thriller fans but still, I lingered. Given that's where I first started out before switching to mostly contemporary romance, it became a soft itch that I kept in the background. As time went on, I kept circling back to this story and it no longer became that but a roaring need to jump into the unknown. I will admit that I did see a few things coming but make no mistake, this author shocked the hell out of me with a plot twist that was so unexpected, I started apologizing to MYSELF for the profanity that came out of my mouth!!

If you're looking for an addicting psychological thriller that is going to make you question everything and leave you stunned, then I highly recommend you read this one.

New Release With Review: The Fault In Forever by Claudia Burgoa

    December 30, 2024

    THE FAULT IN FOREVER

    Claudia Burgoa

    Release Date: December 30th

    Blurb:

USA Today bestselling author Claudia Burgoa brings you an angst-filled, emotional second-chance romance packed with heartache, longing, and an impossible love triangle.

I fell in love with a boy who became my everything.

Keane Stone was my first love. I thought I’d grow old with him.

We had a future filled with promises, until one fateful night.

One tragic accident, and just like that, he slipped into a coma.

For years, I clung to hope; holding on to every 'what if.'

But life doesn’t stand still. Eventually, I had to learn how to live again.

Grief clung to me like a second skin when Haydn Wesford came into my life.

He’s a professional hockey goalie with a natural instinct to protect.

He showed up just when I needed someone the most.

Loving Haydn was like taking my first real breath in years.

He made me laugh when I thought I’d forgotten how and made me believe in second chances.

Just as Haydn and I were about to build a life of our own, everything came crashing down. Keane woke up.

    I can’t abandon him.

Haydn, being the man he is, agrees to help bring Keane home and get him back on his feet.

But as days turn into weeks, feelings I thought were buried begin to stir.

I remember the promises Keane and I made, the future we dreamed up together.

Now I’m standing at a crossroads—caught between the man who is my past and the one who would be my future. I’m torn in two.

    Two hearts.

    Two futures.

    And only one choice.

How do you let go of your first love when he’s standing right in front of you? How do you choose the man you need… without breaking the heart of the one you can’t seem to let go of?

The fault in forever is that sometimes love isn’t enough. And now, I have to decide who I am—and who I can’t live without—before I lose them both.

I went into this story with complete trepidation. I knew the premise of it but I was still bracing myself because I wanted to keep my heart guarded. Love triangles are always messy but when you add in this particular storyline, it becomes heartbreaking.

Five years ago Ophelia's world was turned upside down due to a tragic car accident. It's taken a lot of strength to rebuild back her life piece by piece and Ophelia knows that she's a work in progress. Meeting and falling for the star goalie Haydn Wesford was not the plan but as the years went by, he proved that he loved her unconditionally flaws and all.

Being in the spotlight as a famous goalie has it's ups and downs but the one thing that Haydn is forever grateful for is crossing paths with Ophelia. She's everything that he's ever wanted in a partner and he's determined to build a happy life with her. But what happens when that dream becomes threatened because of the past?

To say that I was extremely nervous while reading this book, was an understatement. I already knew who I wanted the heroine to end up with and I loved that it was laid out in a way where it was clear but there was still a hint of it might not go that way. It kept me on my toes and held my attention for the duration of the story and I liked that.

If you're like me and want to dip your toes in a love triangle every now and then, I recommend you give this one a try. It's sexy, emotional, and it will have you rooting for the ultimate love story.

Book Review: Sunday Morning by Jewel E Ann

    November 8, 2024

Her boyfriend’s older brother should be off-limits, but he’s a sinful temptation.

Sarah is a preacher’s daughter and a people pleaser. She’s also on the verge of graduating high school and following her dream of singing in Nashville. The only thing standing in her way is that the entire town of Devil’s Head, Missouri, thinks she will marry Matt, the son of the town’s richest rancher.

But Sarah’s not sure he’s her future husband, especially when his older brother, Isaac, returns home after serving six years in the Army. He has tattoos on his arms and bad habits that are not “father-approved.”  When he’s not working on the ranch or roping at the rodeo, Isaac hangs out in the barn, playing his guitar. He’s trouble, but Sarah's music-loving heart gravitates toward him.

Isaac loves consuming Sarah’s mind, crawling under her skin, backing her into corners, and whispering inappropriate things in her innocent ears.

After weeks of playful banter and guitar lessons blurring the line between right and wrong, Issac makes Sarah a proposition she can’t refuse.

But when the unthinkable happens, and everything she knows is destroyed, will Sarah make the right choice?

Sunday Morning was the exact kind of read that I never knew I needed. This author knows how to suck you in!!! I started the first chapter and I knew from the first page that I was going to be in for a ride. These characters not only went on a journey of self discovery, but they took me on one as well.

    36000141

Living in a small town and being the preacher's eldest daughter, comes with a lot of responsibilities. Sarah Jacobson knows that all too well and she plays the role perfectly. Dutiful daughter, loving girlfriend, faithful parishioner, Sarah’s life couldn't be more at peace. That is until her boyfriend's older brother moves back home after being in the army for six years.

Isaac is the opposite of his younger brother. He's blunt, does what he wants and apologizes for nothing. But if you really get to know him, that's just scratching the surface and deep down, his complexities and lonesome sacrifices is what makes him one of the best heroes I've had the pleasure of reading about. It's been six years since Isaac's been home and the first thing that caught his attention was none other than Sunday Morning herself. What happens when the town's hottest bad boy sets his sights on you?

    0518d909-ef32-4d9c-808e-6f15f06dec8b-text

I seriously wanted to crawl into this storyline because it was that good!! I found myself giggling at certain scenes, raging and swooning at the same time and I felt my heart break when I didn't see it coming. These characters were hard to get out of my head but what I truly loved most about this story, was their evolution and the way they loved. That feeling was indescribable but you felt it and you saw all the signs and you slowly went down as they were falling

I would have loved to have the Hero's pov a lot more in the story because for certain scenes, I needed to know how he was feeling in those exact moments. But rest assured, the author makes up for it in different ways when she gut punches you with ALL THE FEELS! If you haven't read anything from her yet, you need to start right now. I highly recommend this one and I can't wait for the next book in this series.
