New Release Review: Even If It Hurts by Sam Mariano

    July 30, 2022

    EVEN IF IT HURTS:
    A Toxic Romance (Coastal Elite)
    by Sam Mariano

    Release Date: July 29th
    Genre/Tropes: Dark Romance/Bully Romance/Villain gets the girl/Psycho Hero

    Blurb:

    A psychopath and his prey.

A dangerous, toxic, and utterly destructive love story...

He could have been my hero.

He saved my life that night, a beautiful dark angel slicing through my fear and the water, dragging me from its deadly clutches.

He should have been my hero.

    I thought maybe he was.

Villains aren’t supposed to win, and good should always conquer evil, but in the elite coastal town I live in, the only purpose a label has is letting you know what something—or someone—costs. Good, bad; it’s all relative, and it hardly matters. Baymont, California, is a land of beautiful villains and happy-ever-afters that are just out of reach.

    Especially for me.

Until Dare moves the world beneath my feet, and even though I’m afraid to trust it—to trust him—boy, am I tempted.

    In more ways than one.

Being with Dare is scary, but being without him is impossible.

    He makes it impossible.

Dare’s no hero, that much is clear, but maybe…

    Maybe he’s mine.

This story contains triggers and is intended only for a mature, adult audience. See the opening author's note for more explicit warnings, but know this is a very dangerous relationship with a very dark hero.

    Photo-Room-20220721-231035

The Night Blossoms was a complex mystery that had you guessing what was true and how certain characters truly became who they were. It was informative and confusing in a sense but it held this addictiveness that made you want to read more.

In order to truly appreciate this story, I think that you need to go into this one extremely blind and suspend your beliefs a little bit. This was a suspense mystery that takes you to the past and present in different settings and it makes you want to get to the bottom of the mystery even faster. But when things start to get even more complicated for the main characters, you’re forced to delve into more secrets that you know is coming with unexpected consequences.

    BUNz

I really liked that we were taken to the past and were shown a little bit of the main character’s upbringing and what sparked certain things for him because we needed to see it. With that being said, I didn't FEEL any connection between him and the heroine. It had the makings to be this all encompassing love but I just didn't feel anything for them when they were together and I think that had a lot to do with them not really having one on one time together as much.

Even though I had a few issues with this story, I still enjoyed some parts of it and I will still read anything from this author. If you're looking for slight mystery suspense, then this might be the one for you.

    EXCERPT

“You can't be in here." I pulled away from his touch and put as much space between he and I as possible.

“I am a prince of Citlali, Starblessed." He spat my name.“I will do as I please.”

I wrapped my arms around my chest and looked to the window. The setting sun was leaving room for nothing but darkness, and it was falling over the sky like a curse.

    “Please leave.”

“I am not leaving you alone while you are panicking over whatever Jorah said to you. He is my best friend in this world, but he's also an idiot. He scared you when he shouldn't have.”

“No." I shook my head.“He was right. I have spent my entire life preparing for my betrothal to the crowned prince, and I am a fool to allow the queen to think I am loyal to anything but that.”

A dark smile graced his lips as he shook his head. “You are loyal to my brother?”

“I am.” I lifted my trembling chin as I answered him.

“He is what you want?” He moved closer to me as his dark eyes pierced through me.

“He is my destiny,” I corrected him and took a step back as he moved forward.

“A destiny that makes you wish you were anywhere else.” He chuckled softly just as he moved in front of me. “Tell me, Starblessed. Is it your want for me that makes your breath catch in your throat when I am near or your boredom? If you simply need a man to cure your temptation, then please allow me the pleasure.”

“You can’t say things like that to me.”

His smile deepened as he watched me, and I knew that he wasn’t going to leave unless I made him.

“Your brother can satisfy my temptation just fine.”

His smile dropped as he stepped closer to me still. “I think we both know that is a lie. Unless you close your eyes and imagine that his fingers are mine, I think the only thing my brother will leave you is wanting.”

“The queen is watching me,” I whispered, and Evren simply lifted his stained fingers and ran one over the other before my room was clouded in darkness. Every lamp and the glow of the fire had completely disappeared, and I grasped the post of my bed as I tried to see in front of me.

“What did you do?” My voice trembled with fear and anticipation.

“The queen can only see what I allow her, princess. I may be the bastard prince, but I still have power.”

    Blurb:

Release Blitz with Review: Kingdom of Villains by Ella Fields

    July 6, 2022

Kingdom of Villains by Ella Fields is LIVE and FREE with Kindle Unlimited!

    Kingdom of Villains

    Ella Fields

    Fantasy Romance

    Blurb

USA Today bestselling author, Ella Fields, delivers a treacherously tender love story set in an all-new fantasy world.

I’d known exactly who he was—the Unseelie prince. But I hadn’t known just what he was.
    I’d been fooled.

The creature I’d formed a tentative friendship with in my family’s dungeon was not the gentle, intriguing prince I’d thought him to be.
He was a monster. A bloodthirsty beast.

And I’d helped him escape my uncle’s clutches.

Such a betrayal called for severe consequences, and the price of releasing the biggest threat our kingdom had faced in hundreds of years was not one I would survive.

But upon discovering my uncle’s foiled plans for their prince, the Unseelie demanded vengeance, and an agreement was made.

My savior and my doom returned, and this time, he wasn’t leaving without me.

Regardless of how I loathed him, the deceitful and dangerous male was my last hope. Yet when he looked at me, touched me, dared to love me, the beliefs I’d worn as armor began to melt.

    I couldn’t let that happen.

Though avoiding fate would prove impossible when the only way to save my life was to surrender it by marrying the monster who’d destroyed it.

Kingdom of Villains is a complete standalone and is not connected to any other Ella Fields novel. No cliffhanger. It’s an enemies to lovers fantasy with a whirlwind, swoon-worthy romance.
