Amid Clouds and Bones blew my expectations out of the water! I will go as far as to say that it's my favorite fantasy romance Ella Fileds has written to date. I fell so completely in love with it that it broke my heart to reach the end.
Mildred and Atakan are EVERYTHING!!!!! They are going down as one of my favorite romantasy couples of all time. I seriously get chills when I think about them.
Mildred is forced to marry a fae prince as part of an alliance between the human and Seelie kingdoms. Atakan, her betrothed, is less than enthused by their impending nuptials, and he makes that clear from their very first meeting. Mildred isn't anymore impressed with him than he is with her. Their mutual loathing is especially delicious because they actively try to harm each other before Mildred even moves in with him. Their twisted banter and the games they play with each other made my dark romance loving heart happy.
All that hate made the love even sweeter. The tension between these two is insane. Their chemistry is electric. When they finally break for each other, it will melt your heart, and don't worry, this isn't one of those stories where the villain does a complete 180 when he falls in love. Their dynamic and who they are stay in tact, but with less trying to murder each other and more banging each other's brains out. Speaking of!!! The spicy scenes in this one require a bucket and a mop, if you know what I'm saying!
Basically, if toxic romance gives you the warm and fuzzies, look no further for your next read! The enemies to lovers aspect in this story is chef's motherfucking kiss!!!! If that's your favorite trope, you would be crazy to pass this one up.
