Embers of Mercy is a satisfying conclusion to a fantastic, dark, dystopian trilogy I won't soon forget! From the first chapter of the first book, Brynn Ford had me hooked! This twisted tale kept me equal parts intrigued and horrified through the entirety of the previous installments, and I couldn't wait to dive back into this Handmaid's Tale-esque world to find out how it all would end!
This book picked up right where it's predecessor left off with me wanting Mercy to burn the whole motherfucker to the ground, and without spoiling anything, let's just say, I wasn't disappointed! Mercy Madness is a phenomenal, inspiring character whose bravery and selflessness never falters even in the face of death. I challenge anyone to find something bad to say about this woman.
Mercy was already impressive af in Sparks of Madness, but she just kept getting better from there. She isn't one that just talks the talk. Mercy's always ready to put it all on the line, not just for those that she loves, but all the women and children in her community.
Arlo was on shaky ground with me in the beginning, but by the end, he more than made up for anything he did that made me want to murder him slowly. In fact, he had the most growth of any character in the entire series. My heart broke for him in a different way than it did for Mercy, but it broke nonetheless.
Embers of Mercy is a gut-wrenching, disturbing, bloody, infuriating, glorious dark romance that sadly, will make you think of our own society in regards to women's rights, and Mercy and Arlo are characters that you'll remember forever. Before I picked up the Ember Glen trilogy, I had never read anything from this author, and now, I'll never pass anything up from her again.
Dark and dystopian romance fans, this one's for you!

Lmao! You might find something to say, but you will be wrong! 😌🤣 As far as heat level, it's hard to say. There's a lot of sex, but it's not all consensual. She's raped many times by the men in the village. It's dual POV in this one. I'm not 100 percent sure about the first book, but I think it is, too. Please let me know if you read it! ❤️
