They came to earth—Pestilence, War, Famine, Death—four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all.
When Pestilence comes for Sara Burn’s town, one thing is certain: everyone she knows and loves is marked for death. Unless, of course, the angelic-looking horseman is stopped, which is exactly what Sara has in mind when she shoots the unholy beast off his steed.
Too bad no one told her Pestilence can’t be killed.
Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Only, the longer she’s with him, the more uncertain she is about his true feelings towards her … and hers towards him.
And now, well, Sara might still be able to save the world, but in order to do so, she'll have to sacrifice her heart in the process.

I'm so glad I finally took the plunge and started this series! The author's incredible storytelling sucked me in immediately. I literally couldn't put the book down!
Pestilence is a character that infuriated me. It's hard not to get angry at someone hell-bent on destroying mankind via a horrific plague. The surprising part is that the author managed to make me feel compassion for him, too. Not only that, I started finding the horseman kind of adorable and even swoonworthy. Trust me, I'm as surprised as you probably are, especially when we are forced to watch people of all ages succumb to the terrible disease he inflicts upon them.
I'm not going to lie. It was hard to read at times, even more so because we happen to be going through a world wide pandemic at present. I'm glad I pushed through though, because The Four Horsemen series has turned out to be one of my favorites of the year. There is more to Pestilence than meets the eye, and I'm glad I gave him and this author a chance to prove it to me.
Fantasy/apocalyptic romance fans, this one's for you!
