Sofia
I knew little of Raphael Amado’s history with my family, but when he turned up on our doorstep demanding restitution, my grandfather quickly conceded. That restitution? Me.
Six months later, on my eighteenth birthday, Raphael came for me. He stole me from my home, taking me to his Tuscan estate, where from the crumbling chapel to the burnt-down vineyard, to the cellar that haunted him, the past stalked him like a shadow. It waited for him, hid behind corners for him and trapped him at every turn.
As much as Raphael’s cruelty terrified me, his darkness seduced me. But in the end, it was his tenderness that devastated me.
Raphael
Sofia came to me like an offering. Like a virgin to be sacrificed at the altar. But truth was, her grandfather betrayed her. I guess we had that in common. He’d screwed me too.
I knew hate. I'd vowed vengeance. This was never supposed to be about anything else. But in the end, her innocence broke me. The very thing I would destroy, destroyed me.
5. STARS!!!
“If you let the past go, maybe it will let you go.”
Oh My God, this book! Hands down to Natasha Knight! Dishonorable is WOW! Just WOW!!!I can't even with this book. Start to finish is perfectly written. I was hooked from every words and line, captivated with the weight of the emotions it held. I have totally blown away!! Talk about a book that had me rendered speechless, and this is one of those books. Really, Dishonorable is that good! The enemies to lovers trope were perfectly crafted and portrayed. I love every minute of it!
"Does it scare you that I want to hurt you? That I want you to feel me Take you?Feel me tear you. That I want to hear you cry out?"
Ahhhh..Raphael Amado, how can't I be blown away with this man? How can't I resist such a broken man? Despite his darkness, despite him being that "monster" no woman dreamt of having, I cannot resist him. He's that hero you so hate but dream of loving. He's that man despite being a jerk, AH, god the list goes on, but I cannot deny the fact that he's the man you wanted to love more than hated. That is Raphael, his darkness and brokenness got me. It moved me in every way possible. I ached for him but at the same time hated him for his actions...but boy..oh boy I love him still. He's had this power over me that even with his unacceptable behavior got through me. YASSS!!! A bad hero is just perfect especially if portrayed well. He may be a monster but the way his pain was described is felt with every line I read. I ached for him. I can feel his struggles because of the demons from his past but I was still rooting for him from the beginning until the end. Now, Sofia Guardia is another story. She's this woman I adore because of her strong personality. She's just perfect for Amado's dark world. Too young and innocent-ish but you cannot resist loving her. All throughout she's this heroine who stood up for herself. A no damsel in distress. Instead, a woman with a strong determination.
Seriously, Natasha expertly has written this story. The chemistry of the leads is palpable. The sexual tension was so thick, holy wow sex scenes was just scorching and sizzling, a cold shower is not enough. They are perfect together. Sofia, the light to Raphael's darkness. The angst and suspense were there and it kept on the edge. Start to finish, I feel my blood was rushing anticipating to the next scene. It was addicting despite the darkness lurking. I inhaled it, breathe with it as if it's my last breath. I know there's an HEA but the way it was delivered with the right pacing and turn of events was amazingly written. Even the places they went to and from are vividly described as if I was with them all throughout their journey. My God, I was dreaming all of it and I don't want it to end.
Overall, Dishonorable is a great book. I love how everything was written. It was excellently portrayed and delivered and really aimed to feel and make the readers feel. It's a great enemy to lovers romance despite how dark it seems.Characters, plot, ahhh.. many to mention but all really was excellent. And you know what really had me with this book? It's more than just revenge, it's more that just the demons but the portrayal of love despite all the flaws. So touching...so addicting...Heart gripping and Perfectly imperfect, I couldn't ask for more!
Are you ready to be shocked? This is my very first time
reading a book by Natasha Knight. I know! I know! I have missed out on some amazing
books, but don’t worry, I won’t miss another one! Before I was even half way
through Dishonorable, I was already cursing myself for my obvious lack of good
decision making ability up until this point.
After Sophia and Lina Guardia’s parents died, they were
taken in by their grandfather. Sophia always felt that while he was providing
for them both, he clearly favored her sister. The day he tells Sophia that she
has to marry Raphael Amado when she turns eighteen to repay one of his debts,
it becomes pretty apparent that she is correct on her assumption. Raphael will
stay married to her for three years until she is old enough to receive her
inheritance. The inheritance will ,of course, go to Raphael at that time, and
she will be free to leave the marriage. When she protests, her grandfather implies
that if she doesn’t go along with it, the burden will fall on her sister.
Sophia loves Lina more than life, so she reluctantly accepts her fate.
Raphael was recently released from prison for the murder of
his own father. Since this man will basically own her for the next three years,
Sophia is more than a little nervous about her impending nuptials. Will it be a
marriage in name only? What exactly does Raphael expect from her? Will he force
her to have sex with him on their wedding night? What happens when you promise
to love, honor, and obey the scariest man you have ever met?
As is so often the case, the characters were what really made
this story for me. I especially appreciate when two love interests seem to be
such opposites, but wind up complementing each other perfectly. Sophia is naïve,
loyal, caring, and selfless, and that is exactly what makes her a perfect fit
for our broken alpha hero. Raphael needs someone that will stand by him through
his dark moments and not shy away from him when he is breaking down, someone
that will withhold judgement and recognize the pain behind his anger, and
someone that recognizes when he needs to be taken care of even when he resists
it. Sophia does all that for him and more. Raphael has a dark side, but Sophia
brings out a different part of him. The side that is sweet, loving, and protective.
Now, don’t think that the relationship is only beneficial to him, because it’s
not. Raphael makes Sophia feel wanted, special, and loved. He goes out of his
way to do things that will make her happy and keep her safe. You can feel the
raw, conflicting, and powerful emotions pouring out of Raphael and Sophia throughout
the entirety of the story. It made it so easy to feel their connection, route
for them, and believe in their love.
Truth be told, I
expected Dishonorable to be a much darker story than what it actually is.
Thankfully, it’s so good that I was able to get over that pretty quickly. The writing is spectacular, the story is
gritty and intense, and the characters are complex. The sex scenes are
delicious; however, I didn’t appreciate the altar sex. I know some people
get off on that kind of thing, but I am not one of them. Regardless, I enjoyed
the hell out of this story, and I’m hoping that we will get to see these
characters again if Lina and Damon get their own book. Bottom line, if this
sounds remotely intriguing to you, go ahead and give it a try. I don’t think
you will be disappointed!
