What happens when the very thing ruining your life ends up saving it?
I was never one to believe in spirits—until six years ago, when a bone-chilling accident changed my life... forever.
My name is Charlotte, but most people call me Char... and I have a special gift.
I talk to the dead.
Make no mistake, I can’t summon them. I’m only able to see and speak to the spirits that linger when they’re unable to crossover. They’re somehow weighted to the world with unfinished affairs. And for the last six years, I've relentlessly used my gift to help their lost souls.
But it’s come at a price. My life is dark. Feeling despondent, I've begun to give up. And in helping the dead, I've realized I haven’t allowed myself to live. With no money, no place to go, and most importantly... no hope, I've decided there is only one option—to end it all.
But fate is a funny thing. One minute, I’m about to leap to my death, and the next, I’m saved by Ike McDermott. The strong, striking soldier stopped me from putting an end to my despair. He’s the kind of man that smiles and brightens an entire room.
Sweet and gentle.
He is my savior.
And he’s dead.
We've made an agreement. He’ll help me find a place to stay and a new job if I’ll help him with his unfinished business so that he may crossover.
Ike’s unfinished matter involves his twin brother, George. George has been falling apart since Ike’s death and Ike has not been able to compel himself to crossover in peace until he knows George will be okay.
When I agreed to help, little did I know that I’d fall in love with the charming folks of Bath County, and... Ike and George McDermott.
Now, as both brothers own equal parts of my heart, I am faced with a cruel and unfair predicament. In saving George, I must let go of Ike.
But how does one let go of half of their heart?

At first I thought it was a creepy story. Given the plot and the introduction, I was actually scared that it was a scary book. But with a little courage, I pushed through. And I couldn't be more happy with myself for continuing to read because it turned out to be a really touching book.
I couldn't comprehend how you could love two persons at the same time (yes, even if the other one's dead which, if you ask me, makes it even harder to imagine) but B N Toler wrote it beautifully that you didn't have a moment to contemplate how Char could possibly be in love with both Mc Dermott twins.
Probably the most unique storyline I encountered recently (considering it's a far cry from HP, Hunger Games, The Selection, Lunar Chronicles, etc.) and I loved every second of it <3
I was deeply saddened by Ike and Char's love story but really elated when George and Char ended up together (oops). I guess I can see where Char came from - loving them both but in different ways. I just couldn't see myself being in her position.
The way this book made me felt was incredible. It gives you insights (although no one could verify if there are really souls in unrest lurking) on what lies after this life. What's more heart-wrenching is it gives you a blow-by-blow account of what deaths of loved ones does to people.
By page 700 or so, I was in tears!! It hurt so much but it was calming as well (kinda like how Ike felt when he was about to go). More books like this please!

How do you repair a broken heart?
Sarah Campbell had always been the type of person who laughed the loudest, smiled the brightest, and the constant rock when anyone needed her. She had a good life full of friends and family, until everything came crashing down around her. Dealing with tragedy, Saturday nights became her only escape from the darkness and pain she felt inside. Not wanting anything more than to just give herself to someone—anyone—and let them take away the hurt. Until one Saturday night when Bentley Cole sat next to her at the bar.
Bentley knew a thing or two about broken hearts. One look into Sarah’s dull and desperate eyes, and he knew he would do anything he could to take her pain away. Changing his plans and throwing caution to the wind, Bentley made it his mission to help Sarah learn to live again, even if it meant losing himself in the process.
Fate put them together.
The rest would be up to their broken hearts.

4.0 FATE and CIRCUMSTANCE STARS!!!
What will you do when Christmas no longer became your favorite day of the year? Worst is.. How do you repair a broken heart?
Take Your Time really made me feel so much emotions. When I started reading this, I do not know what awaits and boy did I ever know I should have prepared myself. The blurb almost sums it all. Sarah Campbell a woman who once had a full life surrounded with family and friends turned out to be the opposite of what she used to be after that tragedy that changed her life...but not for the better. Dealing with the "tragedy" she met Bentley. A man who knows about broken hearts that tried to help Sarah to live again even if it meant losing himself in the process.
Sarah and Bentley - Two broken hearts brought together by fate.
"You believe in fate?"
"What abut circumstance?Do you believe in that?"
"What's the difference?"
....He reached up and moved a strand of hair off my face, pushing it behind my ear and letting his fingers linger a few seconds, his touch scorching my skin."Let us just say fate put us together. It's happily ever after together. Circumstance is what either gets us there or holds us back"
Oh!Damn! This book is so heart wrenching but I so love it! Right from the start I was hooked and could not put the book down. I admit, after reading the Prologue that made my heart broken, I was kinda hesitant to read further thinking I'll be just reading something familiar and thought "Oh I know where this would lead". That moment too I was kinda bored and feel like I was struggling maybe because of the pacing and I could not really feel the connection between the leads but then along the way as it progresses I was surprised with the turn of the events. I haven't expected it and then finally realized that the "the part where I got bored and and felt like no connection" is just a turning point of something that made my heart leaped but not with excitement but with an emotion I could not explain.
Really, this two, with broken hearts just got me. I feel their pain...their longing...their hopes and fears...and reading their story is just so hard because I feel every emotion. I was actually so anxious as I go on with my reading looking forward to what may happen or not may happen next. And that twist!!! ahhh.. what the hell??? I didn't see it coming. I was just so damn glad that finally those two broken...wounded souls...was healed and on their steps of forever!
"Living without you is like living without the sun. Without the moon. You're the light in my days, the calm in my nights.. you're the stars in my sky Sarah. I can't live without you."
Finally! Sarah flew with the wings of the Robin. Bentley is right after all..
TAKE YOUR TIME...LET GO AND FALL..that she did!
To Ms. Leddy Harper, great job! Looking forward to Luke's story!

When it comes to love there’s no such thing as conventional.
Everyone thinks Colton Neely is special.
Lilly Evans just thinks he’s fascinating.
Once friends when they were younger, their bond is cut short due to her accident prone nature and they go their separate ways. Years later, they meet again and Lilly learns that there is something special about the boy she once knew, but she has no idea what it all means. And she’s not sure if she’s ready to find out.
When he walks through the corridor of her school the first day of her senior year, she knows that it’s time to get to know the real Colton Neely. The more she learns, the deeper she falls.
Their friendship grows into love, even as Colton does not express it in words. But one decision threatens to break down the world that Lilly has tried so hard to integrate into and she must figure out if the relationship can survive if they are apart.
I mean, I guess I had high hopes for this due to the raving reviews. But this just wasn't my cup of tea. Now to anyone who'll take the time to read my review, it isn't because the male lead has (oops, spoiler alert) Asperger's. I love that! I really did love the plot. I loved the idea of an ordinary, clumsy, accident-prone girl falling for an extraordinary guy just wanting to be ordinary like everyone else.Everyone thinks Colton Neely is special.

Somehow, the writing didn't work for me. Or maybe it was the slow and boring start? I really don't know what I didn't like with this book but it just wasn't worth my 5-stars. We all have our own books which we had high hopes for but we ended up not liking. It was almost a DNF for me but I don't really have those and I promised myself never to have those so it took me a while to read this.
The ending though almost brought me into loving the book. It was heart-wrenching and touching at the same time. It's amazing how much Colton loved Lilly. I'm always a sucker for male leads who bare their all and give their heart over to the heroine without expecting anything return. Awww this was just a feel-good ending. I just wished the start spiked my curiosity more.

Hey Everyone,
Seeing that I didn't post my weekend rec last week, I'm going to give you guys two awesome books this week!! I really enjoyed them and loved that they were so different. My first pick is "The Paper Swan"by Leylah Attar. This story had everything you could possible imagine and one of the best prologues I've ever read. It's beautifully haunting and forbidden with just a touch of sexiness to it. Blurb:
They say it takes 21 days to form a habit. They lie. For 21 days she held on. But on Day 22, she would have given anything for the sweet slumber of death. Because on Day 22, she realizes that her only way out means certain death for one of the two men she loves. A haunting tale of passion, loss, and redemption, The Paper Swan is a darkly intense yet heartwarming love story, textured with grit, intrigue, and suspense. Please note: This is NOT a love triangle. A full-length, standalone novel, intended for mature audiences due to violence, sex and language. Subject matter may be disturbing for some readers. (less)
. My number one weekend pic is, Can I get a drum roll please? "Monster in his eyes" by J.M.Darhower.This is hands down one of my favorite reads of all time so if you haven't had the pleasure of meeting Ignazio "Naz" Vitale, you need to introduce yourself to him very quickly. Do not walk ladies, he's not a patient man ;)
Blurb:
Ignazio Vitale is not a good man. I suspect it, the first time I see him, sense the air of danger that surrounds the man. He has a way of commanding attention, of taking control, of knowing what I'm thinking before I even do. It's alarming and alluring. It's dark and deadly. It's everything I've ever wanted but the last thing I truly need. Obsession. It doesn't take him long to draw me into his web, charming me into his bed and trapping me in his life, a life I know nothing about until it's too late. He has secrets, secrets I can't fathom, secrets that make it so I can't walk away, no matter how much I beg him to let me go. I see it sometimes in his eyes, a darkness that's both terrifying and thrilling. He's a monster, wrapped up in a pretty package, and what I find when I unmask him changes everything. I want to hate him. Sometimes, I do. But it doesn't stop me from loving him, too.
