I don't know what it is about this author but every single book that I’ve read from her leaves me with the same feeling every time. NEED. The urgency to be wrapped up in her books and just stay there for a really long time is what keeps me coming back for more and even though this was not one of my top favorites, it held my attention like no other.

Indiana Ellington has just gone through a terrible loss and little does she know is that that very same loss, is going to shape, change, shatter and make her into the woman that she's going to become over the next decade. But no amount of wishful thinking and wanting to be someone completely different is going to change the fact that the man that she’s in love with, is off limits.



With time, distance and heartbreak, Indie and Milo fought to do the right thing in their eyes for each other. Those decisions became the very thing that kept them apart, caused more hurt and left me with a type of anger that was unexplainable. I loved the first half of the story and seeing both the main characters in their element but somewhere along the way, things became extremely messy and infuriating. I also never truly felt that deep connection between them because something was missing.

This is the kind of story that will have you wanting more and it’s going to keep you interested from the minute you start the first chapter until you read the very last page. It’s addictive, frustrating and you’re going to want to hug and smack these characters at the same time. If you’re a fan of this author and you love forbidden romance, this one is worth a try.

 LAIKYN POV   

“Here.” Tyson offers me the second glass of whiskey and I look from it to him, making no attempt to accept it. “I didn’t drug it,” he growls.

“I don’t believe you.” I lift my chin.

He rolls his eyes and throws the one he’s offering me back, proving that it was, in fact, not laced with something. Setting both down on the tray, he walks over to me, closing the distance and I stiffen. “Why would I drug you?”

I swallow nervously but answer honestly. “Makes me compliant. Easier to take advantage of.”

Reaching up, he runs his hand through what’s left of my bun, pulling bobby pins loose and letting them drop to the floor at our feet. The long, wet curls fall down across my bare back and over my shoulder, some falling in front to frame my face. “That would be too easy.” He finally speaks, his knuckles brushing it off my shoulder. “I want you to feel me holding you down. I want you to hear yourself gasping for breath when I force you to come. And I want your eyes on mine while I make you cry. I’ll never drug you, Lake, because I don’t need you compliant. You’re my wife, and I can take whatever I want from you.”
