Flashback Friday Feels: Angst Whore Edition

    August 19, 2022

    Flashback Feels:
    Angst Whore Edition

If you're an angst whore like me, I have the book for you!

    The recommendation of a lifetime!

A book that will crush you, push you to the edge, and light you on fire!

    ...Okay, enough with the theatrics!

Without further ado, I present to you...🥁🥁

    Pretty Venom by Ella Fields!!!!

    image2 (1)

Pretty Venom is the final book in the Gray Springs University series by Ella Fields. If you haven't started this series yet, don't wait another second! The writing is phenomenal! The stories are beautiful! The characters are flawed and complex, and the romances are complicated and passionate. That being said, each book in the series can be read as a standalone, so don't let it deter you if the other installments don't appeal to you.

    Plot Summary
    *no major spoilers*

Callum and Renee meet in highschool soon after Renee moves to town. Their mothers start to plan their eventual marriage almost immediately. Pissed that his life is being planned for him, Callum begins to plot Renee's downfall. He vows to make sure she never gets any ideas in her head about becoming his wife by bullying her relentlessly.

Renee gives as good as she gets until one day she begins to ignore Callum altogether. That draws him in instead of pushing him away, and eventually, their mutal hatred turns to mutual affection. Before long, they fall in love and when high school ends, they're ready to make a life long commitment to one another.

Going to college married and living together is what they both want, but not long after moving in, Callum is staying out all hours with his buddies leaving Renee alone in their apartment. After he ditches her on his birthday, she decides to go out herself. Too much alcohol mixed with jealousy and pain leads her to make a mistake that rips them apart, crushing Callum's heart and leaving him hell bent on revenge.

    Heed the warning, folks!

I'm stunned my kindle survived to the end.

I wanted to throw it against the wall and bash it with a hammer for good measure!

Callum tested me like no other. The stuff he did to Renee was horrible, but one thing in particular made me LOSE. MY. MIND. I wished so badly that he could be real just for a moment, so I could back over him with my car.

The rage was real, y'all! I still feel it as we speak, and even though I wouldn't run him over anymore, I would sure as hell squeeze the shit out of his nuts.

Having said all that, you may think I disliked this story, but on the contrary, I loved it! Books that play with my emotions are my favorite. I want to fall in love, have my heart ripped to shreds, and have it sewn backed together. I want laughter through tears and smiles filled with rage. Give me characters that make me love them even when I want to hate them for chopping my heart up and throwing in a blender. I want to feel connection and experience every drop of emotion with them. This book gave me all those things, and though I feel like I've been put through the ringer, I'm grateful for the experience.

Ella never fails to make me FEEL. Each book in this series drew a big emotional response from me. Every character drug me into their story and made me feel what they did. I felt nostalgic for a farm I didn't grow up on, cried tears of despair watching mental illness try it's best destroy a good man, and fell in love with a self absorbed football player that made me feel his pain even when I wanted to shove my foot up his ass. I've endured three hard won love stories that left their mark on my heart, and I can't wait to do it again. I'll be waiting for your next project, Ella. In the meantime, I'll see if I can extend the warranty on my kindle.

He’s screwed his way through half the city’s female population and he’s running wild—until his family finds a way to curb his behavior by forcing him to wed.

When he speaks his vows at the altar, he’s holding Mom’s hands, but his menacing green eyes are staring right at me.

Cover Reveal: Devil of Dublin by BB Easton

    August 10, 2022

BB Easton has revealed the cover for Devil of Dublin!

    Releasing: September 27, 2022

    Cover designer: Damonza

    Photographer: Regina Wamba

    Cover Model: Jered Sternaman

From the Wall Street Journal bestselling author of 44 Chapters About 4 Men (inspiration for the Netflix Original series Sex/Life) comes a dark mafia romance steeped in Irish folklore.

I can't remember anymore if my grandfather's eyes were blue or green, but I'll never forget the way they wrinkled at the corners when he laughed at one of his own jokes. Or the way they sparkled with mischief when he told me tales about the magical creatures that dwelled in the forest behind his humble Irish sheep farm—shy fairies who liked to eat tea biscuits, cruel witches who liked to eat children, a moody lake spirit with a taste for expensive gifts.

As a child, I believed every fantastical word. But when he warned me about the mute boy who also lurked in those woods, the one the priest had declared to be the spawn of Satan himself, I refused to listen. Kellen wasn't evil. He was kind, and beautiful, and special, and hurting. He was my friend. And with every summer I spent stolen away with him in those enchanted woods, he grew to become so much more.

But when I return to Glenshire as an adult, grieving and engaged to someone else, all those legends quickly morph into nightmares.

My grandfather had been right about everything, especially the boy.

    If only I had listened.

WARNING: If you are a sensitive reader or find certain subject matter triggering, please exercise self-care and select a different book. Devil of Dublin is a dark romance, intended for mature audiences who enjoy high emotional intensity, explicit adult content, graphic violence, heart-pounding suspense, fairy-tale worthy love, and gorgeous Irish scenery. If that sounds like you, then ... welcome to Glenshire!

New Release Review: Even If It Hurts by Sam Mariano

    July 30, 2022

    EVEN IF IT HURTS:
    A Toxic Romance (Coastal Elite)
    by Sam Mariano

    Release Date: July 29th
    Genre/Tropes: Dark Romance/Bully Romance/Villain gets the girl/Psycho Hero

    Blurb:

    A psychopath and his prey.

A dangerous, toxic, and utterly destructive love story...

He could have been my hero.

He saved my life that night, a beautiful dark angel slicing through my fear and the water, dragging me from its deadly clutches.

He should have been my hero.

    I thought maybe he was.

Villains aren’t supposed to win, and good should always conquer evil, but in the elite coastal town I live in, the only purpose a label has is letting you know what something—or someone—costs. Good, bad; it’s all relative, and it hardly matters. Baymont, California, is a land of beautiful villains and happy-ever-afters that are just out of reach.

    Especially for me.

Until Dare moves the world beneath my feet, and even though I’m afraid to trust it—to trust him—boy, am I tempted.

    In more ways than one.

Being with Dare is scary, but being without him is impossible.

    He makes it impossible.

Dare’s no hero, that much is clear, but maybe…

    Maybe he’s mine.

This story contains triggers and is intended only for a mature, adult audience. See the opening author's note for more explicit warnings, but know this is a very dangerous relationship with a very dark hero.

    Photo-Room-20220721-231035

The Night Blossoms was a complex mystery that had you guessing what was true and how certain characters truly became who they were. It was informative and confusing in a sense but it held this addictiveness that made you want to read more.

In order to truly appreciate this story, I think that you need to go into this one extremely blind and suspend your beliefs a little bit. This was a suspense mystery that takes you to the past and present in different settings and it makes you want to get to the bottom of the mystery even faster. But when things start to get even more complicated for the main characters, you’re forced to delve into more secrets that you know is coming with unexpected consequences.

    BUNz

I really liked that we were taken to the past and were shown a little bit of the main character’s upbringing and what sparked certain things for him because we needed to see it. With that being said, I didn't FEEL any connection between him and the heroine. It had the makings to be this all encompassing love but I just didn't feel anything for them when they were together and I think that had a lot to do with them not really having one on one time together as much.

Even though I had a few issues with this story, I still enjoyed some parts of it and I will still read anything from this author. If you're looking for slight mystery suspense, then this might be the one for you.
