How do you protect the woman you love, when you fear you are the very person who could destroy her?
Claudia McCoy has been told what she can't do enough for one lifetime. After a near-fatal childhood battle with juvenile diabetes and having to accept that her dreams of serving in the military would never come true, she's thrilled to begin a life on her own terms. Yet, when she finally starts her career in the FBI, Claudia is furious that her condition and overbearing big brother, Wyatt, have both once again interfered with her ability to have the life she truly wants. Now derailed from her high-profile aspirations of a position in the FBI's D.C. headquarters, she is instead planted far away from the real action, and practically right in her brother's Pittsburgh backyard.
Trey Adler is known for fixing things, but he's broken just as many — leaving him with regrets that never go away. He'd be the first to agree he should stay away from a nice girl like Claudia, but he can't deny his friend Jenna Sutherland's request when she asks him to use his position as a temporary FBI consultant to keep Claudia safe — especially as it's clear this little firecracker needs protecting. Far away from all the action she so craves, Claudia is more determined than ever to prove herself in her first major investigation at whatever cost — and those costs are proving to be dangerously high.
Their battle of wills turns quickly into a powerful need for one other, making them both rethink everything they ever wanted.
Will Trey be able to keep her alive long enough to give them an opportunity at something real together — a future that can survive the danger in their present, as well as the darkness of his past?
5.0 +++ LITTLE ABEJA STARS!!
Ahhhhhh this book!!more than WOW!!More than GREAT!!! And if I could only rate this book more than five stars I would because really I was hooked, captivated and more than in awe as the story progresses. In all honesty, after I read Shanghai Wind, I immediately moved forward to this book because I can't wait any longer what's in the story especially knowing that finally I get to read the story of that mystery/tattooed/sexy/hot man we all know as Trey and that little but sassy woman Claudia.
Yet again, the book written by Ms. Chloe keeps getting better and better and I do not know how she does it. I devoured line after line and savored every moment. I can't even put the book down because I was eager to know what will happen next. The excitement..the fear..the anger...the fun filled romance...the heated banters..the hot steamy sex scenes..the falling in love...ahhhh I thought my heart and mind could not take all those. In fact, Out of all the books in this series so far, Steel Town is the most I had the hard time writing a review not because I don't want or like the book but because from the start to the end I loved everything in this book. The blurb of this story says it all and more. And I don't want to reveal any spoilers because this is the kind of story that should be read blind to get the full experience of that topsy turvey and one hell of a kind of roller coaster of emotional ride.
To Ms. Chloe, I really do not know what to say... I sooo hate you and love you for writing this book because you made me high even after several hours of reading.
Really, beautifully written is an understatement to describe your works.
A must read!

Looking up into his sharp gray eyes, Claudia licked her lips and asked, "Why don't you have a tattoo here, Trey? You have them all over your chest, but not here where your heart beats."
"I'll answer your question about the bare spot over my heart, but you have to answer one for me. It's been bothering me ever since I met you."
"Okay, shoot."
"Are you sure? You won't like it, but you'll still have to tell me the truth."
Trey's fingers were slipping back and forth against her thighs, caressing her lightly.
"What?" she sputtered out. "Of co-ourse. It's a waste of time for me not to tell the truth. I suck at lying."
"Being bad at lying and being honest are two very different things."
"Fine. I promise to be honest," she answered, her throat drying with each persistent press of his hands, punctuated by the gentle circular motion of his thumbs against her inner thighs.
"Good. Then this will be an easy way for you to get what you want."
"Um, okay. What do you want to know?" "Are you a virgin?"
"That's your question?"
"Yes," he answered, letting his hands squeeze the sides of her legs, hard, sending a new set of shocks and tingles along her nerve endings. "Last night you ordered me to deal with you. Well, then I deserve to know what I am dealing with."
She swallowed roughly, trying to use her prior irritation to pull herself back to reason.
"It's a ludicrous thing to ask. Plus, it's such a dumb male thing to care about or think you have the right to know."
"Uh-uh, little one. You're not answering my question. If you want to start making rules, then you have to be able to play by them, too."
"What do you think is the answer? I'm twenty-three..." she said, her breaths coming out in short puffs of air. Claudia pressed her palms on the table, trying to get up. Trey slammed his hands over hers and met her eyes with a blazing fury that made his gray irises look like swirling, melted steel.
"You're doing it again, Claudia. I've got all the time in the world, nowhere to be...and no desire to answer your question. If you want to back out so I don't have to tell the truth, then so be it."
She moved her face to avoid his eyes, "You're ridiculous."
Trey leaned in closer to her, using his nose against her cheek to force her face back toward his. He slid it across the length of her face, pausing to briefly brush his lips over her skin and suck on her earlobe, making her gasp out loud. When his teeth bit down on the flesh gently, Claudia couldn't help but release an embarrassing moan.
His warm breath tingled against her moistened skin, when he asked again, this time with a whisper, "Are...you...a...virgin?"
"No," she breathed out roughly.
Trey moved so he was facing her, staring squarely in the eyes as he challenged her, "No — you've had mind-blowing sex that turned off that crazy, intense mind of yours and made you stop trying to control everything? Or you've had a dick in you?"
"You-you dirty piece of —"
"Eh, eh, eh. Answer the question."
"Fine. I had sex when I was twenty." Trey's hands clenched a
bit over hers, but his stare didn't waver from hers. When he stayed silent, she added, "He was my best friend. His name is Trevor. I felt it was important to get it out of the way and he was comfortable with my viewpoint, I guess. Are you happy now?" Claudia barely moved an inch, but Trey made it clear she wasn't going anywhere until he let her.
"Yup, just like I thought. For all intents and purposes, you're a virgin, little one. And since we're being honest with each other, I would like nothing more than to be your real first... It could be the only way I ever get you to listen to me." Claudia swallowed a gasp until the air turned into an awkward bubble in her throat. The thrill in her chest dissipated quickly as Trey's face fell, and he added, "The thing is, your answer confirms you're a nice girl. The problem is — I'm not a nice boy. And that's something we both have to deal with."
His words simultaneously frustrated and saddened her. She took a deep breath and muttered, "Your turn."
Trey leaned away from her, and rubbed the left side of his chest a bit, looking away from her.
He turned his eyes back to hers. There was no wicked gleam in his eyes, or smirk to lighten the mood. All that remained was dejection, and something even darker — almost ominous, though she couldn't quite place it.
"I don't have any tattoos there because I felt it was important to leave the area around my heart bare. It doesn't deserve anything...it's my weakest organ." He moved away from her, but she didn't stop him this time.

The two embark on an intense holiday love affair that quickly teeters on obsession, and tempts them both to think they could go all-in on a real future together. Scared of Beautiful by Jacqueline Abrahams is an easy read about a heroine and a hero 'who wanted out". Maia, who lived in a privileged life with wealth and money and then there's Jackson who had a dirty past...both came with a baggage. Two souls who keeps running and looking for a way out ofeverything..life..happiness..and even love for each other...Jackson's life has been less than perfect since his high school girlfriend took the back door out of his life, permanently. After years of subscribing to an existence of less than gentlemanly behaviour, he decides to man up and go to college, promising to be done with random hook ups and female drama.

I hate to say that I'm gonna rate this as a "Three Point Five Star Read" because this book really has a potential. In fact, I myself enjoyed reading the book and there were even moments I silently laughed because of their silliness. What actually piqued my interest is the title and the blurb thus I immediately signed up for an ARC. Because well, I'm a sucker for this kind of plot where rich girl meets reformed manwhore/slut...fall in love..drama..secrets and revelations.etc..etc.. I even appreciate that it was written in both POV's, that way, the readers wont keep on guessing the other's thoughts or ideas. And oh, the incorporation of that line from Edgar Allan Poe's Annabel Lee really did it for me. Isn't it the sweetest when someone recite to you such a wonderful verse..* Sigh..
But our love it was stronger by far than love
of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-
And neither the angels in heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
can eve dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee.
However, as much as I love the book, there were points that is just difficult for me to 'comprehend" or maybe difficult for me to "accept". Maybe because some scenes were just too rushed or just fade away and there was too much drama thus I can't seem to find a connection. The chemistry of both the leads were there at first but then nearing 80% of the book just seems "okay"..just merely leads which even leads me to have an interest on one of the secondary character instead.
Title: SCARED OF EXPOSURE (Scared, #3)
Author: Jacqueline Abrahams
Release Date: December 7, 2015
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance
Blurb
There are fairy tales, you know the ones, which end in happily ever after. Where the princess rides off into the sunset safely pinned to a majestic white horse by her gallant knight. Yes, there are fairy tales.
And then there's us.
New York is my fresh start, my third in as many years. A fresh start; with no assholes in my near future. That's right, you guessed it, two in as many years, assholes that left me with a very strict aversion to romance.
Then I met a guy, a guy who would force me to stay, not to run. A guy who I first encountered fucking someone else in a hallway. He was everything I wanted, and everything I didn't. He was beautiful, and beautifully frightening. And I was the princess that would mend his scars, erase them one by one, until he was whole again. Or so I thought.
Yes, ours is a fairy tale, but not one that you might expect...
Excerpt
“So here we are,” I say. “In the same setting as the one where I fell in love with you. And this time, if you tell me to let you go, I will. No questions asked. I will fucking die on the inside, but I promised to kill anyone that ever hurt you, and if that anyone is me, then I’ll deserve it.”
Mirelle looks up at me for the first time since I arrived. Her eyes shine in the afternoon sun, tears glistening at their corners. “I dream of you, every night. I miss you too, every day. It’s like there’s a piece of me mourning you—and us—every fucking day. And I can’t get past it. I tried, Chayse. My God, why are you so goddamn perfect for me?”
I raise a hand to wipe the tears that fall from her eyes. “I’m not perfect. I’m insanely in love with you. I desperately need you. I completely want you. I’m hopelessly exposed. So I’m desperate, insane, and exposed—but not perfect.”
“I’ll never really be happy anywhere else. You’ve ruined me for mankind,” she laughs.
“Good,” I laugh back, enjoying the sound of her happiness. “I don’t like the idea of the rest of mankind getting anywhere near you.”
“How about you?” she teases. “Do you like the idea of getting anywhere near me?”
“Not yet,” I say with feigned seriousness. “First, we get back to basics.”
“What?” Mirelle questions me, confused.
Holding out a hand, I introduce myself. “My name is Chayse. I’m a youth counselor. I live in a walk up in Brooklyn. I have a prison record. I’m an orphan. I like sunsets and the Maldives and fucking outdoors.”
Mirelle laughs and turns to face me. “Okay, I’ll play. My name is Mirelle. I am a graphic designer. I live in a multi-million dollar apartment in almost the center of New York. I’m a Sagittarius, and an orphan. I also like the Maldives, and I’m not opposed to fucking outdoors.”
Mirelle moves to kneel in between my outstretched legs. “There’s only one problem,” I reply softly.
She looks at me curiously.
“See, I fell for this girl about a year ago, and I can’t get her out of my mind. I mean, if I could, I would love her and live inside of her for the rest of my life.”
“She sounds special,” Mirelle breathes.
“She is. She’s undoubtedly the love of my life. The only person in the world my dick goes hard for. It’s a shame, really,” I tease.
She swats at me before I pull her in, laying us both on the warm sand, my body covering hers, lips seconds away from making contact.
“So I forgot to mention earlier that I’m also scarred and damaged, and reckless when it comes to her,” I say gently.
“She knows,” Mirelle replies. “She knows everything that you are. And believe me, she loves you, too.” With a strength I didn’t know she had, Mirelle flips us over and straddles me.
“I don’t see a problem,” she grins. “Everything about you seems to be working fine.” She knows that the rock solid hard-on grazing her thighs has missed her, too.
Our lips meet in the slowest of kisses, searching and exploring the other, remembering that they have finally found their way home. My hands fist her hair, as hers grip the back of my neck. Our mouths are now fused together greedily, like a hunt for blessed oxygen.
“I knew this would happen,” she says quietly.
“What?” I ask, playing with a strand of her hair. Such a simple thing to do, but something that I had missed so much.
“I knew that the minute I saw you, there would nothing I could do to stay away from you.”
