Laila has read that letter a thousand times, and yet she still doesn't believe it. He left too many things unresolved. She desperately wants to find answers, but it's impossible since the one person that can give her those answers is MIA.
Each day melts into the next. Laila tries to keep herself busy, but it's not enough. No matter how hard she tries to forget, there is always something that reminds her of him.
At her very best, Laila is numb.
What happens when Laila is suddenly confronted with her past, and she is forced to make a choice between the boy who owns her heart, and the one that wants to steal it away?

First of all, it has a boring start. Like its predecessor, Distraction, the story started slowly. Given that it was already the second book, you would expect a more gripping introduction but this book just did not have it.
Next, Laila's hurt was never fully explained. Yes, she was hurting. Yes, we know it was because of Sam, the love of her life, her childhood crush turned hot-and-very-much-real boyfriend, but we didn't know how good they were together, how big of a loss they were. For someone on the outside, it would look like Laila's just too much in her head that we don't know the gravity of her feelings. I think if some of their experiences (like that very romantic candlelit dinner date) were shared, readers would have sympathized more with Laila and her hurting heart.
Also, this has been my problem from the start: Laila is still such a flirt. I know, I've been seventeen too, with raging hormones and what not. And by Laura Clark's explanation (Thank you, Laura, you are the nicest author I have ever spoken to), she's still trying to find her way. I understand, but still, I don't like it. Maybe it's because I've been there, done that :D Or maybe because I'm on the outside looking in? Or maybe because I'm too old to feel and overthink every thing every guy does to me and turn it into something romantic that'll make me giddy. I hope Laila turns out to be an emancipated, independent and free woman someday! :)
Props to Laura for the plot twist on how Gavin and Sam met (at the fraternity party where Laila and Gavin are coincidentally going to on separate days)! I did not expect that ;)
Over all, it was better than Distraction but still not 5-stars worthy.

What happens when the very thing ruining your life ends up saving it?
I was never one to believe in spirits—until six years ago, when a bone-chilling accident changed my life... forever.
My name is Charlotte, but most people call me Char... and I have a special gift.
I talk to the dead.
Make no mistake, I can’t summon them. I’m only able to see and speak to the spirits that linger when they’re unable to crossover. They’re somehow weighted to the world with unfinished affairs. And for the last six years, I've relentlessly used my gift to help their lost souls.
But it’s come at a price. My life is dark. Feeling despondent, I've begun to give up. And in helping the dead, I've realized I haven’t allowed myself to live. With no money, no place to go, and most importantly... no hope, I've decided there is only one option—to end it all.
But fate is a funny thing. One minute, I’m about to leap to my death, and the next, I’m saved by Ike McDermott. The strong, striking soldier stopped me from putting an end to my despair. He’s the kind of man that smiles and brightens an entire room.
Sweet and gentle.
He is my savior.
And he’s dead.
We've made an agreement. He’ll help me find a place to stay and a new job if I’ll help him with his unfinished business so that he may crossover.
Ike’s unfinished matter involves his twin brother, George. George has been falling apart since Ike’s death and Ike has not been able to compel himself to crossover in peace until he knows George will be okay.
When I agreed to help, little did I know that I’d fall in love with the charming folks of Bath County, and... Ike and George McDermott.
Now, as both brothers own equal parts of my heart, I am faced with a cruel and unfair predicament. In saving George, I must let go of Ike.
But how does one let go of half of their heart?

At first I thought it was a creepy story. Given the plot and the introduction, I was actually scared that it was a scary book. But with a little courage, I pushed through. And I couldn't be more happy with myself for continuing to read because it turned out to be a really touching book.
I couldn't comprehend how you could love two persons at the same time (yes, even if the other one's dead which, if you ask me, makes it even harder to imagine) but B N Toler wrote it beautifully that you didn't have a moment to contemplate how Char could possibly be in love with both Mc Dermott twins.
Probably the most unique storyline I encountered recently (considering it's a far cry from HP, Hunger Games, The Selection, Lunar Chronicles, etc.) and I loved every second of it <3
I was deeply saddened by Ike and Char's love story but really elated when George and Char ended up together (oops). I guess I can see where Char came from - loving them both but in different ways. I just couldn't see myself being in her position.
The way this book made me felt was incredible. It gives you insights (although no one could verify if there are really souls in unrest lurking) on what lies after this life. What's more heart-wrenching is it gives you a blow-by-blow account of what deaths of loved ones does to people.
By page 700 or so, I was in tears!! It hurt so much but it was calming as well (kinda like how Ike felt when he was about to go). More books like this please!

When it comes to love there’s no such thing as conventional.
Everyone thinks Colton Neely is special.
Lilly Evans just thinks he’s fascinating.
Once friends when they were younger, their bond is cut short due to her accident prone nature and they go their separate ways. Years later, they meet again and Lilly learns that there is something special about the boy she once knew, but she has no idea what it all means. And she’s not sure if she’s ready to find out.
When he walks through the corridor of her school the first day of her senior year, she knows that it’s time to get to know the real Colton Neely. The more she learns, the deeper she falls.
Their friendship grows into love, even as Colton does not express it in words. But one decision threatens to break down the world that Lilly has tried so hard to integrate into and she must figure out if the relationship can survive if they are apart.
I mean, I guess I had high hopes for this due to the raving reviews. But this just wasn't my cup of tea. Now to anyone who'll take the time to read my review, it isn't because the male lead has (oops, spoiler alert) Asperger's. I love that! I really did love the plot. I loved the idea of an ordinary, clumsy, accident-prone girl falling for an extraordinary guy just wanting to be ordinary like everyone else.Everyone thinks Colton Neely is special.

Somehow, the writing didn't work for me. Or maybe it was the slow and boring start? I really don't know what I didn't like with this book but it just wasn't worth my 5-stars. We all have our own books which we had high hopes for but we ended up not liking. It was almost a DNF for me but I don't really have those and I promised myself never to have those so it took me a while to read this.
The ending though almost brought me into loving the book. It was heart-wrenching and touching at the same time. It's amazing how much Colton loved Lilly. I'm always a sucker for male leads who bare their all and give their heart over to the heroine without expecting anything return. Awww this was just a feel-good ending. I just wished the start spiked my curiosity more.

Princess Winter is admired by the Lunar people for her grace and kindness, and despite the scars that mar her face, her beauty is said to be even more breathtaking than that of her stepmother, Queen Levana.
Winter despises her stepmother, and knows Levana won’t approve of her feelings for her childhood friend—the handsome palace guard, Jacin. But Winter isn’t as weak as Levana believes her to be and she’s been undermining her stepmother’s wishes for years. Together with the cyborg mechanic, Cinder, and her allies, Winter might even have the power to launch a revolution and win a war that’s been raging for far too long.
If it's possible to give more than 5 stars, I would!
At 25% into it, I can't believe that I've read just a small
portion! There were already so many things that happened, much more happening, (and what I didn't know was there was) and a lot more to come! I was chastising myself for having my heart pumping loudly, smiling to myself in public, and staring for a few minutes into an abyss just because I was trying to digest a single line. Genius! It seemed like I can't read fast enough to know what happened next but I really needed a long time just do digest something (even a single sentence).
When the video of Cinder speaking showed in all the outside sectors of Luna, reading her speech gave me chills! Yes, goosebumps literally hived all over my body. I didn't know I could feel this way by reading a fictional speech of a fictional character!
When Maha Kesley bowed before Cinder and all the other people in sector RM-9 followed suit, I was in tears! You hear me, Marissa? Literal tears!
And finally, at 50% (Yes, all that happened before the middle of the book. I know, I couldn't believe it either) I actually believed Cinder had a chance (Okay no spoilers here but that was before I finished the book LOL) and she wasn't able to defend herself against Aimery and the other thaumaturges? I was heart broken. I was hoping for an HEA, but I thought I wasn't getting it by the way things were going with Cinder.
At 68.6%, when Kai was conversing with Konn Torin and he laid out his plans should Cinder lose the war against Levana? I fell for him even harder. He was so brave, so valiant, so courageous! Ahhhhhhh my heart <3 MY LOVE STRUCK EYES GOT EVEN MORE LOVE STRUCK (Yeah, if that was even possible)
I thought this book was going to be all about the crazy Winter. I have been expecting a different kind of story based on the ending of Cress and how she treated Scarlet. But now, I'm also tempted to call my friends by their names and appending it with -friend LOL This book was not entirely about Winter but it was a great ending to the series that contained books which revolved mostly on the girl that was the title of the book. :)
I loved how this book made me feel different things at the same time and consequently. I loved how the characters turned out. I loved the journey the whole series took me on. I love how Cinder developed from a measly mechanic who was invisible to becoming queen of Luna who was invincible. :) I love this series more than I loved The Hunger Games series though I couldn't help but compare them at first. They are alike, but then they're as different as can be. Sorry Suzanne Collins, my heart beats for Marissa Meyer now.
