The Rebel
Book 2 in the Kingmakers Series

Blurb

Zoe Romera is trapped in a marriage contract with the most sadistic psychopath at Kingmakers.

She couldn’t be more off-limits. Stealing her from Rocco Prince would break the most ironclad rules of the mafia world.

But I have to have her. She’s my soulmate. I want her, or no one at all.

I’ll do anything to save her. Rocco will do anything to destroy her.

I’ve got one chance to achieve the impossible…

“The Rebel” is is the second book in the epic dark mafia Kingmakers series. It’s a forbidden romance, full of jealousy, desire, and a hero who will do anything to save the woman he loves.

The Kingmakers series is an unique spin on mafia romance where members of organized crime families from all over the world attend an exclusive university on a remote island to master their craft. Though the concept of such a place seems problematic for obvious reasons, the academy is considered neutral territory. No one is allowed to mortally wound or murder anyone else. If they do, they're forced to suffer the same fate, and there can be no retaliation. Basically, it's an unconventional college for criminals, and I can't get enough!

The Rebel is told in three POVs, Miles Griffin, Zoe Romera, and Zoe's sister, Cat. If you're like me, you may be wondering why the hell we need Cat's POV. Trust me, you want it! I thought I knew why it was there, but damn, I got more than I anticipated!

It was impossible for me not to fall in love with these characters. The way they care, sacrifice, and fight for each other is amazingly beautiful. Anyone would be lucky to have a Zoe, Miles, or Cat in their life.

Zoe takes on every burden that comes with being a woman in their world to ensure Cat is free to live the life of her dreams. We watch her suffer and sacrifice time and time again, but she's not the least bit resentful towards her sister because of it. Cat being safe and happy is truly all that matters to her.

Cat's been somewhat sheltered compared to Zoe. With her sister bearing the brunt of her father's expectations, attending Kingmakers Academy is an eye opening experience for her. It's also one where she feels completely out of place, but after a rough start, she begins to realize she belongs there a lot more than she previously thought.

I loved seeing Cat slowly coming into her own. She pleasantly surprised me, and I can't wait to see where she goes from here. I already know her romance is going to be everything!

Miles is charming, loyal, funny, brave, ambitious, and smart af. I could surmise most of that from what I saw of him in book 1, but what I was not prepared for is how sweet and downright romantic he can be! I'm talking major swoon, y'all! He can also smuggle you anything your heart desires and dance his ass off, but most importantly, he eats pussy like a champ! Actually, there are several steamy scenes in this book, and let's just say, he's very good at EVERYTHING he does.

The way Miles goes after what he wants in life is admirable, but when he turns that determination onto Zoe, he'll steal your fucking heart. There's nothing Miles won't do to have, help, and protect her in anyway he can. Nobody can question his sincerity, commitment, or love for Zoe, especially after he proves how worthy he is in a major way.

The Rebel is captivating, hot, suspenseful, and full of emotion. From anger to tears and everything in between, I felt it all! I seriously fucking cried a couple of times!

It's all Sophie Lark's fault! She writes in a way that I can picture everything as clearly as if I were watching a movie. The music links she places throughout the book give it even more of a cinematic quality and make the scenes so much more impactful. I absolutely love it!

I know I've been gushing way too long about this book already, but I have to talk about the side characters before I go! I loved seeing Anna, Leo, Ozzy, Ares, Chay, and even Dean again. Yes, Dean! I know the author is going to redeem him somehow, and I look forward to it!

I appreciate that all of the characters in each book are important and three dimensional. As we find out more and more about them, it makes you feel everything that much stronger, because you have a relationship with the secondary characters the same way you have a relationship with the main couples.

I felt for the side characters in this book as much as I did for Zoe, Miles, and Cat. I don't want to say who and spoil anything, but my heart broke for some of them. I know we will get an HEA for one, but I'm crossing my fingers for the others, too.

Bottom line, this book is fantastic! If you haven't read The Heir, I recommend you read that one first, because you'll get more out of this one if you do. Don't worry if you haven't read the parent's series though. I haven't either, and it doesn't negatively affect my enjoyment in the slightest. As you can probably tell by my endless rambling, I'm having a damn good time!
