It started as a simple search for a landscape designer…
I wanted a beautiful backyard for my new home and my neighbors suggested I look into Ward Landscaping & Design.
The owner had no pictures of himself on his website, just a portfolio of nice outdoor sitting areas, pools, and vibrant gardens that I’d always dreamed of having.
Of course I hired him.
I expected to meet an average guy, but Mr. Marcel Ward is far from your average man. He’s handsome, and well-built, and his smile—though a rare trait—is truly infectious.
He’s every woman’s dream—a handsome, older man who doesn’t mind getting down and dirty to create something beautiful all because of his passion for it. Unfortunately, that lucky woman can’t be me.
Although Mr. Ward tests my limits, quickens my breath, and makes my heart skip a beat when he’s around, I’ve promised to devote myself to my husband.
So why am I falling for a man I know I can’t have?
First things first, MARCEL is MINE! Mother of All Fucking CLiffy though, The Man I Can't Have by Shanora Wiliams DOPED me ! This one's a blast. I need the next book ASAP because I am totally diggin' the landscaper here. Just HOT!
Whenever I wanted a fix on my taboo addiction, Shanora Williams is always on my list. Man, this woman just knows how to stamp her amazingness in the taboo spectra to all taboo diggers. She knows what she's doing and I am in awe of her with that. The Man I Can't Have is no exception. Slowburn at it's finest, but when she throw on those angst-filled scenes and erotic one's, she did full blast I almost couldn't keep up. I was on the edge. Those erotic scenes? The FORBIDDEN vibe? Lawd, it didn't just made my panties in a twist, not just dampen either, it was SOAKED! *fanning
Marcel and Gabby's journey blindsided me. Sure, this was taboo. Of course with taboo comes a whole lot of things that will do you so good in the hottest department. Often times. themes like these would even rip your heart apart, make you a blubbering mess or make you want to just say, I want this a threesome instead! Beg the author to be nice to you because --- heartache. But TMICH, was a different one at that. Sizzling scenes was sure more than sizzling I tell you especially with the slow build-up. The husband, Lord forgive me but I want to stamp on his balls because he's a total prick! For the first time in my history of reading a cheating book, I did not find any hard time choosing sides. Instead I want him oust in the heroines life and just get it over with. But no, he was there lurking, looking for that perfect timing to crush all my hopes for Marcel and Gabby! It had me gasping! I was shocked because I did not expect it. There was no hints for fuck's sake. I thougt for one, that when it comes to the confrontation point, I will be ripped and broken to pieces but, NO! I was left even more hanging and wanting for more. I need to know what's going on and what's about to happen. I am on pins and needles here. I need answers! I am rooting for Marcel and Gabby! But that cliffy..... Man, Shanora! You nailed!
In totality, this book was good. If you'll ask me, I will totally recommend it especially to those like like me who love theme's such as this. But for those who condone it, it's really up to you. Ms.Williams was upfront to this duet right from the beginning. However though, you might want to give it a try. As always, Shanora writes well. It was intriguing. Once you start it, you'll find it impossible to put down. In my case, I did keep on turning the pages because scenes after scenes really draw me in. It did not help either that all characters just had this pull to me. Gabby and Kylle -- they made me want to know their relationship even more. As for Marcel, I want his pain and all. I totally dig him.I know there's more to him that wasn't let out yet. All their complexities made this duet even more addicting. I want to dig deeper. I want MORE!
Shanora Williams, end my misery and just give me that second book now! Great journey with you again!
Forbidden romance lovers rejoice!!!! The Man I Can’t Have will give you all the feels while reading this one. Racing heart, sweaty palms, guaranteed frustration, longing for what you can’t have, and the forbidden temptation you KNOW without a doubt… is going to do you in.
I’ve said this before on more than one occasion, I love forbidden romance. That feeling you get once you’ve stepped inside the alluring dangerous territory of wanting something you know you can’t have, is like a magnetic pull to the unknown outcome. We crave it because we know it’s wrong but yet, we want it anyway. With temptation at the forefront, giving in will be the least of your worries.
I really don’t want to go too much into the plot of the story because the stuff that went down needs it’s own gasp sounds and I think every reader show up be caught off guard while reading this one. As much as I love this author, I will admit that I was hesitant going into this story and I had all of these questions swirling around in my head. Will I embrace the forbidden and fall in love with something that I know is wrong? Will I finish this story with my heart intact or will I be shattered for different reasons? Well I got my answers and they were all a big f*ck yes!
I know that this story is unconventional in a sense and that it won’t be for everyone. It’s messy, complicated, and your feelings will no longer be your own. Despite some of these characters flaws, I loved them in all of their honesty and I liked the fact that they showed their vulnerable side as well. Nothing was ever easy but you know what they say about love stories like these…. They never are
