3.5 "DIRTY MONEY" STARS!!!
"Wall Street meets the Sons of Anarchy in the smoldering, scorching first novel in the explosively sexy new Dirty Money series from New York Times bestselling author Lisa Renee Jones. "
The lines above was what made me root for Hard Rules. With plenty of friends speaking highly of Sons of Anarchy and women getting gaga over Jax Teller and the fact that it was written by Lisa Renee Jones, I know I have to read the book stat and well, here's my thoughts:
To honest, the book really started intriguing and this made me hooked with the story. That feeling of getting curious and intrigue at the same time is just a habit of mine that usually keeps me going with the book and yes, Emily and Shane's story is pretty much one of those I know I can live with until the end of the book. And oh damn, Shane may not be the dirty alpha I was used to reading but hell, I will admit that a particular scene in the window really got me. That was pretty scorching hot that made me want to tie up the hero and keep him for myself. (Sorry ladies, I just had my eyes with those domineering, alpha and bossy man. ) *wink.
Emily is another story though, where Shane has plenty on his hands on a family's war plus betrayal, this woman is tied with a BIG SECRET that could probably destroy what they have. Their connection was pretty instant, it may be intense but the chemistry is not that strong to the point that you could not feel any connection to them but thinking about it though, I was just left saying to myself, that maybe there's just more to this characters than what was being written considering this is just the first part of the story. But, I like her though, even with her running I just feel something about her that made me root for her. And did I say family war? because seriously, I was really trying to contain this feeling inside nagging feeling that I need more and that this family is so crazy to the zenith. Starting with the parents up to the oldest brother and thank God minus the youngest, or is there something this man is hiding too.??
Now, that's the question that piled up to a lot of questions left un-answered as I finished the book. And that maybe one of the things that I could complain with it. My mind went spiraling down looking for answers and solving for puzzles that wasn't solved at all. Plus there are points where it slowed and dragged a bit and I was left hanging aside from the fact that this ends in a cliffy. Good thing though, nearing the end the story builds up and that made my anticipation to build up to.
Now, don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the book and to be honest I am still looking forward to the next in the series. Now, you couldn't just sleep through it with all those questions left un-answered and secrets not yet revealed right?Could you?
