Review: Paper Princess by Erin Watt

April 4, 2016

Well this was one hell of a ride and quite frankly I don't know if I'm happy to get off or just weep and throw something really sharp because of that MOTHAEFFIN ending. These characters are seriously messed up but I LOVED it and I can't wait for part two.

" Some kids dream of traveling the world, owning fast cars, big houses, Me? I want my own apartment, a fridge full of food, and a steady paying job"

Ella Harper has had a rough couple of months. Dealing with the death of her mother dying from cancer, having three jobs to help pay the bills, and being in her Junior year of high school. She's determined to make a life for herself and keep a roof over her head even if that means going to one of her jobs that she hates. Being a stripper is not something that Ella loves doing but it pays the bills and keeps her from not going hungry. That to her is win win. But life as she knows it is about to change DRASTICALLY and she's in for one royal surprise.

Being tracked down by the rich and powerful Callum Royal claiming he's her legal guardian has shook Ella to the core. Not only is she suspicious but she's determined to not go anywhere with him. That is until he makes an offer no one in their right minds can refuse. She agrees to live with Callum and his five sons until she graduates high school. Good plan right? What could possibly go wrong living in a mansion with five boys who loathes you? Drama!

"If you stay, we'll break you so bad that you'll be crawling away. "

Enter the ring leader Reed Royal.

Popular.

Hot as sin.

Dangerous.

Hot as f*cking sin.

Reed is determined to make Ella's stay an eneventful one. He doesn't trust her and he makes his feelings known upfront. But Ella is not one to back down and she certainly doesn't take crap from anyone and she's not about to start now. Who's going to win this battle. Can Ella really survive living with the Royals?

"You're playing a dangerous game," he rasps out.

"I don't know any other way to play it."

Even though this story was told from Ella's pov, I loved the fact that everyone had a voice in this story even if it was only for a little while. From Gideon to Easton and the twins, everyone played an important part and love them or hate them, you remembered who they were and knew not cross them.

I really liked Ella and I loved her fight and determination. She didn't hold back when she felt something was wrong amd she stuck up for herself when the time was right. She was fearless, strong and passionate. Being dealt with a tremendous amount of grief and loss, she handled her life with maturity and a grace that most adults are still trying to accomplish. Even though this is classified as an young adult/new adult read,I fee like it's more of a new adult read so please dont let that scare you away. These characters are messy, spoiled and like the authors said, they will ruin you.
