A modern telling of a classic tale... This isn’t a typical love story. This is a story of what happens when love is so powerful and all-consuming that it has the ability to destroy everyone involved. It’s definitely not pretty and it’s certainly not a fairytale, but it’s their story and it couldn’t be told any other way.

Heath by K Webster and Nikki Ash was one of my most anticipated reads of fall, and it did not disappoint!! When I put it on my tbr, the only thing I knew about the book was that it was a retelling of a classic tale. It wasn't until later that I put together that the aforementioned tale was Wuthering Heights.

My discovery only made me even more excited, because that's a book I've always wanted to read. Everything I had ever heard about it intrigued me. All consuming, passionate, and destructive! Love, obsession, revenge, and tragedy! Count me in! I tried to pick it up as a child, but I wasn't ready for it. After reading this version, I'm more determined then ever to cross it off my list!

I've been thinking a lot about what I should mention about the plot, and I've come to the conclusion that I can't say much. This is a book that truly needs to be read and felt without any ideas about what will or should happen running through your head. I had no idea the direction this story would take, and I'm so glad I didn't! I was shocked! It flipped my idea about how the story would end on it's head. This book is completely different from anything I've read to date, and that's what I loved most about it!

Heath is a complicated, tragic, and an unconventional story of multiple generations of relationships between two families. Since this isn't the story of just one set of characters, there is basically two endings. One is happy, and the other is heartbreaking and bittersweet.

Now let's talk about the characters! They're complex and memorable to the point where I'm certain even years down the line, I'll remember them and still have conflicting feelings when I do. Infuriating and charming, shallow and deep, selfish and selfless, hateful and loving, passionate and cold, they are forever etched into my heart!

Overall, I enjoyed the hell out of this book! It's definitely one of my top reads of the year! My expectations were met and exceeded. K Webster and Nikki Ash did a phenomenal job with this collaboration. Their writing was seamless, and they managed to keep me completely captivated the whole way through. In fact, I read the entire book in one night. I tried to put it down, but I just wound up picking it right back up.

I won't lie to you. This is a story that will have your emotions all over the place, but that's part of it's beauty. When it ended, I noticed I was holding my hand over my heart. That says everything you need to know about it right there. It will make you FEEL, and isn't that what we want most of all?

I recommend Heath to fans of Wuthering Heights and unconventional romance.
