EMORY

They call it Blackchurch. A secluded mansion in a remote, undisclosed location where the wealthy and powerful send their misbehaving sons to cool off away from prying eyes.

Will Grayson has always been an animal, though. Reckless, wild, and someone who was never bound by a single rule other than to do exactly what he wanted. There was no way his grandfather was going risk him humiliating the family again.

Not that the last time was entirely his fault. He might’ve enjoyed backing me into corners in high school when no one was looking, so they wouldn’t catch on that Mr. Popular actually wanted a piece of that quiet, little nerd he loved to torture so much, but…

He could also be warm. And fierce in keeping me safe.

The truth is… He has a right to hate me.

It’s all my fault. Everything.

Devils Night. The videos. The arrests.

I’m to blame for all of it.

And I regret nothing.

WILL

I never minded being locked up. I learned a long time ago that being treated like an animal gives you permission to act like one. No one has ever looked at me any other way.

Their only mistake is believing anything I do is an accident. I can sit in this house with no Internet, television, liquor, or girls, but I’ll come out of here with something far more frightening to my enemies.

A plan.

And a new pack of wolves.

I just didn’t expect one of my enemies to come to me.

I don’t know who smuggled her in or if they meant to leave her here, but I can smell her hiding in the house. She’s here.

And as the security detail leaves the supplies, the gates close, and the door to my gilded cage opens, giving me free reign of the house and grounds for another unsupervised month, I remember with a smile…

Blackchurch houses five prisoners. I’m only one of her problems.

The Devil's Night series is one of my favorite dark romance series of all time. Anything I say about it or this particular installment could never do it justice. Penelope Douglas deserves an endless amount of praise for the phenomenal job she did with this series though, so it's only right that I give it my best shot.

Nightfall is more than just one couple's story. It's the end of a complex storyline that has spanned across over 2,000 pages, four books, and a novella. A story that is intricate, layered, and intriguing from start to finish! Even the last lines of this book made me want to dive into the stories of the second generation of characters born into this series.

Unfortunately, for now, the author has no plans to give us those stories, and that truly breaks my heart. I don't know if I've ever wanted a second generation series as badly as I do this one. The world Penelope created is unlike anything else I've ever read, and I hate that this is the last time I'll ever get to experience it.

The plot of every single book in the series is perfection. Each installment is well-written, engaging, and enthralling. That being said, the characters will forever be what I love most about this series. Their personal battles, emotional scars, and multidimensional personalities are what have stolen my heart time and again.

The family the author formed amongst these individuals is one I'll never forget. Their relationships are unconventional, complicated, special, and incredibly beautiful. Their romances are angsty and breathtaking, and the sex throughout the series is fan yourself, change your panties more than once before you're through level hot!

*Skip the next three paragraphs if you don't want to hear me gush over my favorite character in the series. LOL*

Out of the entire cast of characters, Damon is the star of the show as far as I'm concerned. His character has evolved and progressed further and more spectacularly than any other, and he is by far the most complex individual character in the series. I will argue with anyone that has the nerve to dispute that fact. He's intertwined with the other characters in a variety of ways, particularly Will and every single one of the heroines.

His complicated relationships with his sisters are my favorite non-romantic relationships in the series. I loved watching them interact, and their connections grow and change over time. Damon's connection to Winter is intense and beautiful, and the similarities between himself and Emory are plain for anyone to see.

Will is his best friend and the brother he never had. Their relationship isn't without it's complications, but nobody can deny their strong bond or the deep love they have for one another. Aside from being the wrap up of the entire Devil's Night series, Nightfall is Will's story, and you get a lot of the Damon/Will dynamic throughout this book. If you enjoy their unique friendship, you won't be disappointed.

*end gush*

Out of all of the characters in this series, Will has always been the most mysterious. I never felt like I truly knew who he was at his core. To be honest, he never stood out next to the other men in the series prior to this book for me. It's one of the reasons I was so excited to finally get his story. I wanted to find out who Will was inside and out, and the author delivered. I loved that in the end, he had such an important role in the resolution of the series. He was working behind the scenes all along, and his hardwork paid off in this installment.

Will and Emory's relationship is one I enjoyed both in the past and present. I wish we would have been able to experience more of them once they got together, but the book was already damn near 700 pages. I can certainly understand why we didn't get more than we did. Aside from that, the author had to wrap up this entire series alongside Will's individual story which couldn't have been an easy task. Was it EXACTLY what I wanted? No.

Do I think Pen could have pleased everyone when there was so much to be done and readers are invested to this level? No.

Did I enjoy the fuck out of this book? YES!

Is it as intriguing, hot, dark, and captivating as the rest of the series? Absolutely!

Is it worth the read? Hell yes!

Did the author do an incredible job with Will's story and the ending to this series? Without question!

Would I recommend it? Fuck yes! It's a necessity if you love this series or dark romance in general. A fantastic end to one of the most amazing series I've ever had the pleasure of reading!

Thank you, Penelope Douglas, for this masterpiece. I'll be forever grateful to you for writing the way you do with unique storylines and morally gray characters that push our boundaries and for giving me one of
my favorite characters and series of all time.
