Synopsis
Who knew sleeping with the enemy could be this fun?   Was the one night stand a good idea?   Well, no. Probably not in retrospect.   In my defense I had just moved back into my grandparent’s house, I’d lost my dream job, and a guy on Tinder had stood me up. It was like life had suddenly stamped ‘LOSER’ on my forehead.   So when the guy behind the bar started giving me THE look…you know, the one that promised I’d be screaming his name into the wee hours of the morning? When that guy also has the perfect amount of scruff on his chiseled chin, biceps bulging out of his t-shirt, and a cocky grin you knew he’d earned in the sack…when he gives you that look, you don’t bother to figure out what your six degrees of separation are. You jump on that horse and ride it!   Pun fully and completely intended. And accurate by the way.   I fully admit to feeling sorry for myself and acting impulsively, but by the time I’d figured out WHO the bartender was, I was already falling for him.

Dedicated to all the ladies still looking for their very own unicorn cock. –Piper Rayne

Piper Rayne is the pen name for a writing duo that as of now are keeping their identities a secret, and the Bartender is their first novel. Once I read the blurb for this book, I pretty much knew I was going to enjoy it, but I never would have guessed how much! With the perfect amount of humor, steam, and heart, The Bartender easily exceeded my expectations!

Down on her luck, Whitney goes to a bar where she decides to use Tinder to find a guy to hook up with for the night. Waiting for pussylickr69 to show up, she captures the attention of the bartender, Cole, and he engages her in conversation. Cole is gorgeous and after many drinks when it becomes clear that she was blown off by her “date,” she winds up going home with him.

Waking up in his apartment the next morning, Whitney realizes she can’t remember anything that happened after she arrived. Completely mortified by what she may or may not have done in her inebriated state, she leaves with the intention of never laying eyes on him again. However, fate has other plans. One of her best friend’s, Tahlia, is getting married. It turns out Cole is Tahlia‘s fiancé, Chase‘s, brother, aka the guy that stood her up for a blind date once upon a time. What happened after she left the restaurant where they were supposed to meet that night altered the course of her life, and she has always blamed him for it.

Infuriated with herself for thinking he was a good guy, she decides she wants nothing to do with him. That may have worked out for her if she and Cole weren’t supposed to be the maid of honor and best man at Tahlia and Chase’s wedding. Whitney and Cole get tasked with a series of duties that they need to complete for the bride and groom. Being the good friend that she is, Whitney keeps the Cole drama to herself, because she doesn’t want to stress out her friend.

After spending lots of time with him, Whitney begins to think that she may have misjudged Cole altogether. He’s not the same guy he used to be, and did I mention he is smoking hot? They genuinely enjoy each others' company, and the sexual tension between them is palpable whenever they are together. So, what do you think happens next? If your mind is in the gutter, not only are you my kind of girl, but you are right! The only problem is she still holds him responsible for one of the most devastating things that has ever happened to her. Will she ever be able to move past that to give them a chance at something more?

Did I enjoy it? Hell yeah! It was funny without being cheesy or over the top, sweet but not enough to activate my gag reflex, and had just the right amount of steam… well I mean I wouldn’t have objected to just one more sex scene. Haha! Whitney and Cole’s romantic relationship was the focal point of the story, but we also get a lot of awesome moments between Whitney and her friends, Tahlia and Lennon, who thankfully will be getting their own books soon. The end of this book sets up one of said books quite nicely, and I can’t wait to get my greedy little hands on it!

Entertaining, funny, sweet, and steamy, The Bartender is a fantastic read! I absolutely loved it and would recommend it to any romance fan. The writing is addictive, the characters are endearing, the story is well paced and interesting, and there is a magical unicorn cock involved, people!

In short, if you like romance, go one-click this bad boy right now! Read it, and love it! Tell your friends, and then one of you sign up for an arc of the next book and buddy read it with me! :D If you still aren’t convinced, I will leave you with this lovely little tid bit for your consideration.

“I’m going to join you for another as well.” He gets up off his bar stool and before walking away he comes to stand directly behind me. “Assuming you want me to stick around?”

His breath washes across my neck and my ear and I close my eyes for a brief moment to enjoy the sensation. “I’d like that,” I say with all honesty.

“Good. I know the first guy let you down, but don’t worry ….. I’ve been told I lick pussy like a boss.”

And with that, he walks away while I struggle to keep my heart from pounding out of my chest.

I’m out of my league with this guy. I know it and there’s a good chance that he knows it, too.

But ask yourself this, ladies…if you were called up to the big leagues from the minors, would YOU say no?

About the Author
Piper Rayne, or Piper and Rayne, whichever you prefer because we’re not one author, we’re two. Yep, you get two established authors for the price of one. You might be wondering if you know us? Maybe you’ll read our books and figure it out. Maybe you won’t. Does it really matter?
We aren’t trying to stamp ourselves with a top-secret label. We wanted to write without apology. We wanted to not be pigeon holed into a specific outline. We wanted to give readers a story without them assuming how the story will flow. Everyone has their favorite authors, right? And when you pick up their books, you expect something from them. Whether it’s an alpha male, heavy angst, a happily ever after, there’s something you are absolutely certain the book will contain. Heck, we’re readers, too, we get it.
What can we tell you about ourselves? We both have kindle’s full of one-clickable books. We're both married to husbands who drive us to drink. We're both chauffeurs to our kids. Most of all, we love hot heroes and quirky heroines that make us laugh, and we hope you do, too.
