Must Love Lions Alma Black Release Blitz November 30, 2016
Blurb:
Alexis Parrish is very single. Sassy and smart, she's great at her job as a journalist, but it's never given her the time to find the right man--specifically, a human. So when she gets assigned to interview Max, a lion shifter, about the new dating app he's created, she can't believe her intense attraction to him. After all, humans and shifters don't date. Max is used to causing trouble. He broke tradition by creating the dating app, Shifter, which humans and shifters alike can use to answer the call of the wild. When Max challenges Alexis to give him a chance, she can't say no. A human like her has no business with this handsome alpha lion, but she can't resist his magnetism. Their chemistry is primal, their connection positively animalistic. After all, once you go shifter, you never go back. But when a rogue shifter group against interspecies dating targets Alexis, Max will stop at nothing to protect her. It's more than his pride on the line; it's his mate. Warning: If sassy, sexy, and carnal reads aren't your thing, this book isn't for you. It contains lots of dirty sex, violence, and witty banter.

Love is love. Max, an alpha lion shifter, believes that with every fiber of his being. That’s why he created a dating app called Shifter. It’s an app where a human can fill out a form and find their perfect shifter match. Relationships between shifters and humans are extremely taboo, but Max thinks it’s time for that to change. He believes the app will help break down the walls between the two species.
Alexis is a journalist that has been assigned to interview Max about Shifter and his controversial viewpoint. She is far from convinced that shifters and humans should mix. In fact, she is flat out against it. Despite that, there is no denying her intense attraction to him. After some convincing from Max, Alexis agrees to go on one date with him to see if he can prove to her that they aren’t all that different from one another.
”Love wanted what love wanted, and it didn’t give a shit about gender, race, or species. Lust was the same. He desired Alexis, and if Max was human, he’d be willing to bet nothing would have stopped them from tearing each other’s close off and going at it in his office. Right here. Right now.”Will Max show Alexis that shifters and humans are compatible? Will their differences be harder to overcome than Max realizes? Will there coupling anger the wrong people?
Though I am a big fan of shifter romances, I have never read one with a lion shifter as a main character so I was excited to give this novella a try. Shifter Date: Must Love Lions is a light, steamy paranormal romance with a healthy does of action on the side. This isn’t one of those short stories mostly made up of sex scenes. The plot focuses not only on the budding romance between Max and Alexis, but also the prejudice and obstacles they are up against.
Overall, it was an enjoyable read. Max is sexy, open-minded, and witty. Alexis is beautiful, smart, and sassy. In the beginning, I found her judgmental and close minded, but she changes her way thinking as the story progresses. The plot held my interest, and the author’s writing style made this easy to read in one sitting. However, I never felt a strong connection between the characters, and the pacing felt off at times. There was also a part thrown in at the end to create conflict that kind of makes you question if they really are too different to maintain a relationship. Later, it is seemingly forgotten about after the heroine’s life is threatened. The issue isn’t addressed further, and that just didn’t set well with me. For those reasons, I can’t rate this higher than three stars. That being said, I would still read another book by this author. If you are looking for a short, light, sexy paranormal read, you might want to give this one a try.
