Well this was one heck of a journey. I'm emotionally exhausted but I feel like this had to be done. You were put in that place to have the breath knocked out of you in a sense and with that came raw emotions. Frustration, anger, sadness, resentment, loss, triumph and happiness. All of these feelings, all of these emotions, were for a story that showed you the true meaning of what it means to sacrifice something for the most important thing in your life.
Going into this story, I knew that it was going to be a bit of a tough one based on the prologue. My first thought was wanting to know right away how did it get to this point? Then the hero took us back between the past and the present and quite honestly, I wished a few times that he would've stayed in the present because going back? That was when the pain started. We saw those critical life changing moments and we knew… we knew that this was going to hurt and yet we proceeded without caution anyway.
I'm going to be honest and very vague with this review because for a story like this, it has to be done. I really loved the fact that this story was told in the hero's POV because at the end of the day, this was more of his journey. We saw exactly how he felt and the decisions he made in trying to navigate this thing called life and I loved that he did what was best for his family.
Now with that being said, some of those exact things left me frustrated as well and I just wanted to scream one word. One word and a lot could've been avoided including heartache but they don't call it angst for nothing.
If you're a fan of this author, then I think you're going to enjoy this emotional second chance romance read. But I have to warn you,have the tissues ready and the wine on chill!!
