Well SHIIIIIIIIIT!! I went into this one with such a full force because of that ending in “Ruthless King” and let me tell you something… I would kill to go through that ending again instead of what happened at the end of this one. I seriously think this author is trying to test us or make us drink more! Whatever the case may be, I know without a shadow of a doubt that if I don’t have “Sinful Empire” in my possession within the next few weeks, I’m going to lose my ever loving shit!

If you’ve read “Ruthless King” then you’re familiar with who Lachlan Mount is and his relationship with Keira Kilgore. If not, then your butt need to stop reading this review and go read the damn book. Lachlan was a mystery for me in book one and the one thing that I was hoping for in this one, was that we were going to be shown just how ruthless and terrible he truly was. I was practically craving it and the minute I read the prologue and first chapter, I was damn near scared to go through the rest because EFF.ME ON SITE. I freakin got it!! They say be careful what you wish for and my wishes are now on hold when it comes to that man.

Told in dual pov’s, this is the continuation and aftermath of what happened when Keira came face to face with her past and the lengths that Lachlan would go through to keep her safe. This wasn’t an easy task seeing that she wants nothing to do him and his corrupted world. But from the moment Lachlan made himself known to her, there was no going back for Keira and those feelings of hate are quickly being disintegrated. With every passing moment, lines are being blurred and for this couple, someone is bound to get hurt.

“I am not a good man. My soul is black. My heart is stone. My reputation isn’t legend or myth but a collection of facts.”

I really loved the fact that we got to see a whole other side of Lachlan in this story. I always wondered what was the Breaking Point that made him into the man who is today and looking back into his past, we got a glimpse of it. But make no mistake, this man has been through his fair share of a hard life and he worked his butt off to being the King of New Orleans, bloody fingers and all. We also got to see him interact more with Keira and I will admit that I swooned A LOT when it came to those simple but memorable moments.

I honestly didn’t think that this series cliffhanger could get any crazier, but once again I’ve underestimated this author and I’m going to do something I’ve never done while reading a book. I’m going to pray for any and all future enemies!! There’s a war coming and in this Sinful part of New Orleans, there can only be one King ruling his Empire.

And this is why I have always loved all things Meghan March! Man, she made me feel alive! Defiant Queen blew me away! The sexual tension was so high. Holy-fucking-scorching the sex scenes!! It wasn't just titillating and tantalizing, it was to the zenith! If I was at the cusp of my orgasm with Ruthless King, Defiant Queen was the BEST ORGASM! And Lachlan Mount! Fuck me! This anti-hero's gonna be the death of me.

Gah! Defiant Queen just escalated my obsession for this trilogy. It can't be stopped. I am already addicted to it. It's all over in my system I'm craving it like my next fix.

Lawd! The Prologue hit my heart so hard. Having a glimpse of Mount's past that somehow made him what and who he is today broke my heart, yet as I go on with my reading I could not help my heart from pounding. I love the broken him as much as I love the ruthless, fearless and the dark side of him. I was intrigued to no end. With every turn of the pages, I was in the edge, my adrenaline rush kept on pumping. I could not stop reading. I breathed it, inhaled it and savored it and yet I am still craving it. Addicted is an understatement for what I have with Defiant Queen, because what I am feeling now, it is more than that.

And I am not just taking about Lachlan Mount and Kiera Kilgore here. All bets are off when it came to these two. What they have been more than just strong chemistry. They're just perfect for each other. Call me twisted and fucked up, but these two fitted just perfectly. Keira is one lucky bitch for having Mount. Her defiance? Now, that's what you need to find out in this second installment. It's what made this book more appealing. See for yourself how our "Defiant Queen" faired with the controlling, ruthless Lachlan Mount. Find out how they scored up in this game of power struggle. Who really has the upper hand? Is it the dominating Mount or the feisty Keira Kilgore? Because Defiant Queen is more than what it seems to be. It had me on my knees begging for more. Meghan March had a mission, for whatever it is, she slayed it with perfection.

Overall, I highly recommend this book. As always, it was amazingly written and had that magnetic pull towards her lines that kept on stronger as you flip on the pages. I love this book to death! It was raw and packed full of scorching deliciousness sprinkled with twists and turns that had my jaw dropped and my heart in constant speed of anticipation. Meghan March has a way with words that just reels you in, swallows you whole then spits you out. I could not put it down and finished it in one sitting. She made my inner imp stronger.

And now, the waiting just begun! Sinful Empire, you're next!
