There was a time Jude Delouxe didn’t hate me, and I’m fairly certain it was when he didn’t know I existed. Senior year, I finally caught his eye long enough to throw word vomit at him like the obsessed teenage girl I was. That was then. You see, the most wanted guy in school blamed me for losing his second chance with his girlfriend. Ex-girlfriend? Whatever. Point is, the Adonis loved to hate me. It wasn’t my fault he’d followed me. It wasn’t my fault he’d stared too long and stood a little too close, just daring me to accomplish my wildest dreams. And it most certainly wasn’t my fault his ex-girlfriend arrived when he’d decided to kiss me back. Then the cruelty began. I’d thought I could handle it, so long as his lips kept gracing mine and he kept giving me more scorching firsts. Until he took it too far, and all his carefully kept secrets blew open the doors to a brand-new world. A world he was all too familiar with. Obsession became loathing and fear replaced naivety as Jude was forced to hold my hand and help me navigate a secret society rife with sin and debauchery—the crème de la crème of Peridot Island. If I wasn’t careful, I’d do more than lose what remained of my heart. My first love and greatest foe wouldn’t be satisfied until he’d devoured my soul, too.

Evil Love immediately had me on a teenage angst secrecy first love ride that didn’t want to quit. Out of nowhere these characters cemented their place into our hearts with no warning, no apologies and dare I say it: no liquor!! I went into this story thinking that I was going to get one thing and it turned around and gave me something else.

“He was mine. He just didn't know it yet".

Eighteen year old Fern has always had a good life. Raised by a single mom and attending the best private school money can buy, Fern already has a good start at a successful future. But for years she’s been holding onto a secret that is slowly taking over life and instead of trying to tame it, she feeds off of it and let it fester. I mean after all, how often does your real life actually takes interest in you and it becomes the start of something explosive?

Jude knows that he has it all and life for him could have been worse. Thrown into secrecy in his personal life and still trying to keep up appearances around his friends, it becomes a lot at times. Seeing his next door neighbor and classmate shouldn’t have meant the beginning of a downfall and the power of the unthinkable. How will two people who have nothing in common at first glance, become the talk of the town with their unconventional antics while secretly falling for each other?

Evil love is the first book in the Nightingale series and I loved that this author started it off with a bang. It was alluring, sexy, passionate, mad inducing, and it made us fall in love with characters that some might want to have alibis on standby for. If you’re a fan of enemies to lovers and bully romance, then this book is for you!!
