4 Books Guaranteed to Make You Say...

"What the Fuck Did I Just Read?!"

1. Naked or Dead by A. E. Murphy

At first glance, this book appears to be just your average bully romance.

Well, surprise! It's not!

Read this one if you want something suspenseful, fucked up, and surprisingly emotional. It's the kind of read that keeps you on your toes and has you guessing the whole way through.

Full disclosure, I figured out a lot of what was going to happen at the end, but even so, it didn't take away from my enjoyment.

It's an intriguing, twisted, mindfucking journey, and I enjoyed the hell out of the ride!

Dark romantic suspense and enemies to lovers fans, this one's for you!

2. The Five by Lily White

It's not often that a book takes me by surprise the way this one did.

I read so much that it's hard to find something new and unexpected.

I've been looking for an author to pull the rug out from under me for a while now, and that's exactly what Lily White did!

If you're a fan of dark stories, READ. THIS. BOOK.

Go in totally blind! I promise you'll be left with your mouth hanging open, and your brain in fragments on the floor.

Your feelings will be so fucked up you won't know what to do with yourself, and if you're like me, you'll love every minute of it!

3. Ecstasy by K. V. Rose

Insane.

That's the word that comes to mind when I think of this book.

Heavy drug use, violence, murder, hot sex, and self sabatoge, this book has all the crazy shit you could ask for!

This book is NOT for everyone.

The characters are all batshit, so don't look for a rational one in the bunch. You won't find them. They're also pretty unlikable.

Their relationships are toxic. Even if you normally enjoy that type of thing, you may still find yourself wanting to smack the fuck out of all of them. The ending is more bitter sweet-ish than happy, and you'll probably either love it or hate it.

That being said, it's also wild, intriguing, captivating, dark, and steamy af! It's like a roller coaster and a train wreck all in one! I could not put it down or look away, and my emotions were all over the place!

If you're feeling brave, and you're looking for something dark and different, this one's for you!

4. If I Break by Portia Moore

If I Break is the first book in an older series, but I only recently discovered it this year after a friend recommended it to me.

Thank you, Courtney! 👊🏻

I'll be honest and say if I didn't know this book had some type of twist, I may have dnfed it halfway through.

The heroine seemed a bit on the weak side for me, but I'm so fucking glad I stuck with it! It's such an unique story and not at all what it seems.

The ending left me jaw dropped, and I couldn't pick up the next installment fast enough!

If you're looking for your next mind fucking binge, you don't want to miss out on this series!

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you found something new to add to your tbr!

  1. I still think Deliverance of Amelia (really hope that's what it's called) by Bonny Capps is still one of the most fucked up reads to destroy my eyes. I loved it and hated it and I was scared for 99.9% of it, but I have no regrets.

I discovered Luly White a few years ago and loved her shit because 1) No two stories were alike, 2) None of her stories were like someone else's stories, and 3) She didn't always give conclusive or happy endings --> I never even realized how those endings could really fuck me up. Anynuts, I'm glad you love her shit too!

    Amazing post! 😘💜

Yes!! I LOVE that about her. So far, the books I have read from her and even looked into are completely different. She has such an imagination for the fucked up! I love it! I'm jealous you discovered her years ago!
