BLURB:
Ciro Donati was many things:
My father’s most valued and trusted soldier.
My brother’s best friend and second in command.
And the only man I would give up everything for.
I fell hard for the Mafioso at the tender age of eleven. This beast of a man who I knew made people disappear—and probably enjoyed every second of it—was also the sixteen-year-old boy who had picked me up after I’d fallen flat on my face during my dance recital and told me I was the best ballerina he’d ever seen. He’s watched over me, protected me like I was the most precious thing in the world to him.
And then he sent me away.
Scarlett Vitucci was many things:
The daughter of the biggest Cosa Nostra boss from New York to Chicago.
The sister of the man I would gladly take a bullet for.
And the only woman I would ever love.
Sending her away was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I didn’t deserve her or her love. For three years I stayed away, ignoring the gnawing ache that her absence left in my chest. Now, she was back and fighting what I felt for her was impossible. Letting her go had been a huge mistake.
One I would never repeat.
3.0 "VITA MIA" STARS!!!
Mafia books are my cup of tea. I love the adrenaline rush, the excitement, the thrill, the suspense and anticipation that keeps on building, the solving of pieces of puzzles and then added up with touch of romance, damn it's just perfect. When I learned that Terri Anne Browning will be releasing a book centered on Mafia life I was so excited. I am used to her Rocker Series and I have been a fan. I haven't read her MC books but knowing she'll venture into this plots I just can't help myself not to want the book.
Defying Her Mafioso is the first book of the series that follows the story of Scarlett and Ciro.
Ciro Donati was many things: My father’s most valued and trusted soldier. My brother’s best friend and second in command. And the only man I would give up everything for.
Scarlett Vitucci was many things: The daughter of the biggest Cosa Nostra boss from New York to Chicago. The sister of the man I would gladly take a bullet for. And the only woman I would ever love.
It started with the Prologue that really took my interest BIG TIME and I was thinking I was really in for a ride.
Ciro. His name was like a balm to my mind if not my body. I wished he were there, but knew if he had been I wouldn't have been experiencing the pain was currently in. The person who had stupidly taken me would be dead for even daring to think of doing things that had been done to my body.
My adrenaline keeps escalating and I was just hooked.I keep on turning the pages and this is one of the reason why I love the author's works. She had this ability to draw her readers to her works. And Defying Her Mafioso is on of them. It's a good start of a series I give it that. In a way because we are introduced to the whole cast and their connections. Flashing back two weeks earlier, I was entertained with Scarlett's family and how they deal with each other. She and her twin along with her brother and father is a sight to behold and it's a different setting I usually read when it comes to mafia family so I was intrigue but appreciated that the love among family members that was portrayed.
The first part is full of action however I cannot really say I am sold to the story. I was left hanging and at times I don't feel any strong connection between Ciro and Scarlett. I get the relationship and how everything turned out so I was rooting for them. In fact, I was swooning with Ciro. I love the character he portrayed and Scarlett is no different too. She's feisty and kick ass and I adore her. No, I adore both of them. They could make a perfect mafia couple. But along the way, my interest was shifted towards the other twin. Maybe because the drama between the other twin was more stressed out than the leads. Other than that is the question that I have in mind that wasn't answered and I was looking for more packed action.
All in all though, it's an entertaining read. It's a lighthearted and I could say it's definitely the safest MAFIA book I read so far. And that Epilogue, it's cute and sweet.
