From mega-bestseller and TikTok sensation Mia Sheridan comes an all-new epic second-chance romance with an unexpected and gritty speculative twist.

When the world is plunged into darkness, who would you turn to?

Amid the sun-drenched orange groves of California, childhood friends Tuck Mattice and Emily Swanson shared a bond that seemed unbreakable—until life ripped them apart.

Thirteen years later, Emily is a rising pop sensation in need of security, and Tuck, a brooding ex-con, is in need of a fresh start. When fate brings them together once again, Emily hires him on as her new bodyguard. They butt heads and bicker, just like the old days—yet neither can deny the heat rekindling between them.

But when a cataclysmic solar flare disrupts the electrical grid, society is suddenly plunged into chaos and darkness. For Emily, the familiar comforts of fame and fortune crumble, but for Tuck, this stark new reality could be the chance he needs to finally prove himself. As they come to terms with all they've lost and the bitterness that's kept them apart, they must find their way back to one another and discover a new place, under the sun.

From the moment I read the blurb for this story, I needed it immediately. This was going to be a different read and I was genuinely craving that because I was struggling a bit with a few books that I picked up before. Heart Of The Sun is a action packed dystopian romance that will have you rooting for the main characters victory.

When a solar flare permanently damages the earth's electrical grid, everything is plunged into darkness and the world as we knew it, no longer exists. Now in constant Survival mode for the foreseeable future, everyone is now doing whatever it takes to make it out alive and that includes childhood best friends Tuck and Emily.

It's been years since they've laid eyes on each other but due to life's choices that put them on different paths, Emily and Tuck are now back in each other's orbit with a rocky start. Now trying to navigate their new normal and get home safe, can these two friends that are now enemies survive their new world and each other?

I really loved the premise of this story and I truly enjoyed the first half of it. It was exciting going into the unknown and I held my breath while reading certain scenes because everything was so tense!! But somewhere along the line, it became too good to be true and just a matter of convenience. I understood that a few things were “right place right time” but it became too much of a coincidence and no more element of surprise.

I applaud this author for stepping out of her comfort zone and trying something new and even though I didn't love it as much as I had hoped, this was still a decent read. If you're looking for an enemies to Lovers dystopian type feel, you should give this one a try. What didn't work for me, just might be the one thing that makes you fall in love with it even more.
